Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Replacing My Crown

While in Mississippi I had a crown come loose while eating Rasin Brand. The dentist cemented it back in place today. They said it had be in there since 2002.

Archiving and Uploading Videos

I spent most of my day archiving DVD's from our two previous meetings in Gulfport, Mississippi and Corpus Christi, Texas. It will take many hours to upload all these WMV files to our website. I started the uploads tonight but I expect it to take a couple days round the clock to upload them on our slow internet connection.

Three Nights Without Sleep

The past three nights of very little sleep has really taken a toll on me. Mary feels bad from her spider bite so we stayed home today. The itching from her bite is much better because it does not itch so much today. The itching has really been bad for the past couple days.

Ball Family Reuion

I got to sleep about 4:00 a.m. this morning. Mary had me up about 7:30 a.m. She is excited about the reuion today. We went over to Scott and Lacy's for brunch with Robby, Rachael, Sophie, and Mady. This afternoon we had a great time with all the Ball's and their family's. I think they counted 75 folks that attended the event. Corky's BBQ catered the meal. It was great.

After the reunion we headed to the Emergency Room to have Mary's Spider Bite checked. It only took about 6 hours. We got home about 1:30 or 2:00 a.m. This is 3 nights in a row of no sleep. Mary said I went to sleep in the waiting room at the hospital for a little while. The doctor gave her an antibiodic and some cream to put on her spider bite. The doctor seemed to think it would be fine.

The Spider Bite

I got to bed about 2:00 a.m. this morning and finally got to sleep about 3:00 a.m. Mary was anxious to get to Little Rock so she had me up way too soon this morning. She has too bite places by her left eye that look like a spider bite. Her eye is swelled nearly shut so her vision is blurred. She made me drive the entire trip home to Little Rock today. We got home about 3:00 a.m. and maybe got to sleep about 4:00 a.m. This lack of sleep is really catching up with me.

Our 44th Wedding Annivarsary

We spent our 44th Wedding Annivarsary hard at work. This was the last night of the Founder's Week Revival at People's Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. They had a pot luck after church. We were eating supper about 10:00 p.m. Then some of the men from the men's home helped me pack and load. I got to our room about 2:00 a.m. and finally got to sleep about 3:30 a.m.

Mid-night Snack

We went over to the Guest House here on the farm of People's Baptist Church and had a late night snack with our friends from Massachusetts, August and Patty Rosada with "Today In Bible Prophecy Ministries". They drove down for the 27th Founders Week Revival. We have enjoyed their company at many meetings since we first met them a year ago.

Happiness Hill Girls

The Happiness Hill Girls from Union, Mississippi showed up at the meeting tonight at People's Baptist Church here in Corpus Christi, Texas. I think they were the best I have heard from them in a while. It was a wonderful blessing to hear them sing and testify about what God has done in their lives. I thoroughly enjoyed their part of the service tonight.

Authentic Mexican Food

I think we found the most authentic Mexican Restaurant that we have ever been to. The staff was all mexican. All the customers were mexican. We kind of felt out of place but the food was the best ever. We throughly enjoyed our lunch here in Corpus Christi, Texas.

We had great services today at the People's Baptist Church, but the internet was awlful and I had an awlful time broadcasting the service.

One Tired Puppy

I am one tired puppy tonight. We packed last night after church let out at 11:00 p.m. and left Gulfport, Mississippi about 3:00 a.m. this morning. We arrived at People's Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas about noon today and started setting up immediately. Some of the men from the men's home here was a great help to me setting up. They stayed with me until I finished about 9:30 p.m. tonight. I am so glad to get to go to bed on time tonight. I am one tired puppy but so thankful for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. We get to hear, broadcast and record some of the best singing and preaching on planet earth. WOW! What a privilege.

Late Night Packing

We did not get out of church until nearly 11:00 p.m. tonight. It was a fantastic service. After church the church people started tearing down all the Jungle decorations and helping Mary and I pack and load our equipment. I was very thankful that some of the men helped us pack and load. We left the church about 1:30 a.m. and headed to the Best Western where we had to load all our clothes. We finally left Gulfport, Mississippi headed for Corpus Christi, Texas about 3:30 a.m.

A Very Long Day At The Youth Conference

We arrived at the Deep South Youth Conference this morning at 8:00 a.m. I shot video all day long and tonight until about 9:30 p.m. It was after 10:30 before we got away. I think I'll fore-go the trip to Ship Island in the morning with the young people. I think we're too old for these long hours. It has been wonderful all day long but we are worn out.

2009 Deep South Youth Conference

This has to be the most exciting Conference we have been too all year. There were over 500 young people in attendance at tonight's opening of the 2009 Deep South Youth conference. Mary and I are thrilled to be a part of this meeting. The preaching and singing are fantastic. We love it. Thank you Lord for letting us do what we do.

Mary's Close Encounter

Mary was sitting in our van about where you see that pickup in the forground when this dump truck came around the corner on two wheels trying to make the light. As it rolled over toward Mary she thought it was coming right over the top of her. As you can see it stopped a few feet shy of getting her. When she came to pick me up at Faith Baptist Church a few minutes later she was still shaking. She was a nervous wreck for hours after that.

It looks like the Deep South Youth Conference is going to be second to none. They have gone all out to make this the best Youth Conference in the world. We are thrilled to be a part of it.

We have not been home in a lot of weeks. We decided to watch the Live Services at our church (Heritage Baptist Temple) in Little Rock, Arkansas today. It was a blessing to be able to watch the singing and preaching Live from our home church.

A Day at the Best Western

We spent most of our day at the Best Western here in Gulfport, Mississippi. We are catching up on tasks from the previous meeting and getting ready for the next meeting. I think I finalized the the DVD label that we'll use at the 2009 Deep South Youth Conference next week.

A Very Special Message From Our Friend

I am trying to get the rest of the singing and preaching archived on SteveBrownMinistries.com this evening. As I thought back over the week I think the one that spoke to my heart the most was the message by our friend Bruce Frye entitled, "Do You Remember the Wind". I made a special AD on my website to advertise this message.

Mary and I spent most of the day packing and loading our equipment. We finished loading the van about 10:30 p.m. tonight. The bed is going to feel good tonight.

Mississippi BBQ

We enjoyed some fantastic BBQ today here at Temple Baptist Church. I really don't think I have ever had anything better. The food has be fantastic all week. We enjoyed a great day of preaching and singing all day and night. The Happiness Hill Girls were a special treat tonight. They drove all the way from Union, Mississippi to be with us tonight and then they had to drive all the way back home after church. They are a great bunch of girls. We love them. They sang a lot of songs tonight.

Moving To Best Western

We had the priviledge of staying at the BEAMS Headquarters for the past 18 days. Since they had our room already booked for tonight we had to move to the Best Western down the road. I can not believe how much stuff we are carrying around with us and this doesn't even include our video equipment. It took us a couple hours to move all our personal stuff to the motel this afternoon.

Late Night at the Jubilee

It's after 10:00 p.m. and we're still at church. We just had our second person baptised. People are still practicing songs. The service was over 45 minutes ago but people are still here. Seems like nobody wants to go home tonight. I'm still converting the eveing service to upload tonight's archive.

Great Night At The Jubilee

We enjoyed a great night at Temple Baptist Church for their 2009 Jubilee. Lots of singing and preaching. Brother Bruce Frye is the top of my list for singers.

Bruce Frye

Bruce Frye is one of our all time favorite singers. Before he got saved he was a Country Music Singer and sang with Hank William Jr. His testimony is one of the most amazing that we have heard. We met him last year here in Gulfport, Mississippi he is back again this year to sing for us at the 2009 Deep South Jubilee at Temple Baptist Church. I love to just be around Brother Bruce Frye.

All Set ~ Cameras Tweaked

After three days of setting up and making the last minute tweaks to the cameras we are ready for the 2009 Deep South Jubilee that starts in the morning at Temple Baptist Church here in Gulfport, Mississippi. I added another camera to our setup yesterday. I found the little JVC camera at a pawn shop and thought it would make some great crowd shots to transition to occasionally. We now have 5 cameras in our video setup that work into our TriCaster Studio for broadcast and recording.

Waffle House Overlooking The Gulf

We drove down on the Gulf for breakfast this morning. We had a perfect seat at the Waffle House overlooking the Gulf of Mexico here in Gulfport, Mississippi. It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed our breakfast.

I spent a hard afternoon running cables and getting ready for the Deep South Jubilee starting Sunday at Temple Baptist Church. Mary and I worked until about 10:00 p.m. tonight before heading to our room at the BEAMS Headquarters.

Denham Springs, Louisiana

We drove over to Denham Springs, Louisiana tonight to attend the Lockhart Road Baptist Church. The pastor wanted me to see if I could help them with the purchase of a new sound system. I told them about our son, Lee, being an expert in this area and that I would get him to work up a list of equipment that we would recommend.

The church let us stay in their Prophet's Chamber tonight. It is very nice with three bedrooms. They stock the kitchen with all kinds of goodies including Louisiana Coffee. We love it here.

Their sound equipment is located behind that little opening in the wall on the right of this picture. They are going to knock out most or all of that wall so the sound person can better hear what the audience hears.

JoJo Moffit Will Excite Your Soul

We watched a Sunday Night Service from North Valley Baptist Church in Santa Clara, California tonight. The highlight of the service was Mrs. JoJo Moffit. My Soul, she would get a backslider excited. Mary said she is just as excited as she was 25 years ago when Mary last heard her speak. I promise it will stir your soul if you'll click and listen to her speak. She speaks after some great music.

Tom Sooter in Bogalusa, Louisana

We drove over to Bogalusa, Louisana tonight from Gulfport to be with our friends at Freedom Baptist Church and to hear Bro. Tom Sooter preach. What a privilege to get to hear this man speak. I didn't dare want to let my mind drift even for a second because I would miss something very important. I can't wait until this fall when we get to go back and hear him speak on "Spiritual Warfare" and we get to put him on the World Wide Web.
