Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

60 Years

Today I turned 60 years old. It sure seems like I ought to be about 40. I don't understand where the years went. Mary treated me to an Ultimate Feast at Red Lobster this evening. We enjoyed the dinner hour with Rob and Rachel.

First Place In The 50 Plus Category

This morning We got up at 4:45 a.m. and headed to park in Grafton, Illinois for the annual MOGA (Midwest Open Geocaching Adventure) event. They fed us a nice breakfast and we all started at 8:00 a.m. for a 3 hour individual competition. Somehow I was very lucky and found 13 caches to put into first place for the 50 and older category. I was pretty much shot for the rest of the day. I think we ended the day with 18 caches.

Caching With CCCooperAgency

We covered a lot of miles caching today in Maryville, St. Joseph, Atchinson, and Lansing. We made it to the CiCi Cooper event an hour late. Most folks were still there and we had a good time visiting with fellow geocachers. After the event we had the previledge of going caching with Lynn of CCCooperAgency. She is a real geocaching celebrity.

Orienteering at Longview

We spent most of the day helping with the orienteering event at Longview. When we go away about 3:30 p.m. we went caching and was out until about 9:00 p.m. Our last cache was in Richmond, Missouri. Very difficult with a flashlight in the dead of night.

Three Mile Walk

I guess the biggest event I recall today was our routine noon hour 3 mile walk around the six ponds at Southlakes. Seemed like we walked a little slower than normal today but it was a very enjoyable walk.

This evening I worked on my Kill Creek map getting ready for the orienteering event on April 1st.

Worked Nearly All Night

I had to help with an AIX upgrade on one of our computers at work last night and I did not get off the call until 3:00 a.m. this morning. Then at 7:00 a.m. I got woke with problems on that computer. That took another hours to resolve. I spent a very sleepy day trying to get my scoring program ready for the orienteering event in the morning.

Coding for Orienteering Event

After looking at how Saturday's orienteering event is set up I figured I had some coding to do on my scoring program. Saturday's event is really set up as three individual events and my program is only good for 1 event per day. Now what am I going to do.

Another Trip to Fleming Park

We worked until dark again vetting the orienteering course. It just didn't seem right not being able to count my steps and see how far I had walked. I miss my pedometer.
