Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Drew's Birthday Party Video

I have spent many hours the past three days editing the video that we shoot at Drew's Birthday Party. I have finally got it down to about a 15 minute DVD with a very nice label. I hope I have learned a little about editing videos these past two weeks.

Mary's Dog Got Loose

I don't claim any part of Mary's dog but I do have to help her out from time to time. This morning we got up and Princess was running loose. Things were strawn all over the back yard. We immediately went to town to buy a new collar.

Little Rock Videography, LLC

I guess it's offical. Mary and I have our own company. We received the offical registration from the State of Arkansas for Little Rock Videography, LLC a couple days ago. Today we opened a business checking account. We plan to meet with a lady from the bank Friday to open a Merchant Account so we can accept credit cards.

Wild Game Supper Video

I spent most of my day editing over an hour's worth of video I shot at the Wild Game Supper the other night. I have a 7 minute clip I plan to show at the close of church next Sunday night. I will make DVD's of my work available to all the men who attended the Wild Game Supper. I think we had about 130 in attendance that night.

Scott & Lacey Off To Disneyworld

This morning we got up early and took Preston and Drew to school. Then we picked up Scott and Lacey and took them to the airport. They were so excited about their trip to Disneyworld. Mary and I sure wanted to go with them. They invited us but I told them I could buy another video camera for the price of the trip. I hope I'm not too hung up on material things.

Lunch With The Family

Mary fixed a fantastic pork roast for lunch today. All the kids and grandkids came over after church for lunch. It was great!

Drew's Birthday Party

I took all three of our video cameras over to the gym for Drew's birthday party this afternoon. The kids had a great time and I had a great time videoing their fun.

Wild Game Supper

I started early this morning setting up for the Wild Game Supper tonight. I set up the new portable sound system in the gym. I set up one video camera and helped with the tables and chairs. By the time we got to eat tonight I was worn out. The feast was great. The highlight of the meal was the whole hog. We all ate way too much.

Cold Day For A Funeral

We were invited to participate in a funeral today at Crystal Hill for a friend's mother. They needed a sound man and they ask Mary to sing. Mary did a beautiful job on "If You Could See Where I Am You Wouldn't Cry".

Church Night

We went to church tonight. The message was great and just what I needed. Thank you Lord for a Pastor that walks and talks with you.

A Blue Day For Me

I don't know why. I really don't have a good reason but I really feel blue today. I spent the entire day at home and did not accomplish much. We both worked on the computer and listened to preaching videos all day. We did go to the Bible College class tonight. It was fantastic and should have helped me, but I came home still feeling under it all. I am sure I need some time alone with God. Thank you Lord for always being there for me.

Windows Vista Ultimate

I dropped by CompUSA this afternoon. The store is just about empty. I'm sure they will close the doors very soon.

I picked up a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade for $129. I thought that was a good buy. My main goal was to get Remote Desktop. Remote Desktop is not available in our present Vista Home Premium. It seems that I am always needing to connect to Mary's laptop for something. It took me three tries to get it loaded on my HP Desktop. It did not like me to upgrade. I had to end up doing a clean install. That went smooth and I like that better anyhow.

A Great Day In The Lord's House

We enjoyed a great day at church today. Bro. Larry was at his best. The Lord used him to speak to my heart. Everything went well with the audio and video. Praise the Lord for a great day!

Ladies Conference

I spent a big part of my day hauling the equipment from the Family Life Center back to the church. I was trying to get done by 2:00 p.m. so I would not interfere with the Ladies Conference. I stopped working at 2:00 and helped Lee run the audio equipment for the Ladies and then Scott came along and helped me finish setting up and cleaning up my mess so we would be ready for the service in the morning.

Valentine Banquet

I spent the entire day continuing to setup for the banquet tonight. We have this new awesome portable sound system that I have spent a lot of time with today. I hauled over my new 60 unit DVD burner and set it up for tonight. I spent many hours setting up the video equipment and tweaking it to make sure I was ready for tonight.

This was truly a working banquet for me. I reserved a banquet table over close to the equipment so I could be with Mary, but I am sorry to say that I spent most of the evening running the video cameras. During the closing remarks and prayer I finalized the DVD and dropped it into the duplicator. I had already pre-printed a very nice red background with a chocolate covered strawberry label on the DVD's and had them waiting in the duplicator. Within minutes we had 50 DVD's ready to hand out as the folks were leaving the building. Mary and I recruited a couple of the teenagers to help package the DVD's. We handed out all but one of the DVD's within minutes. We guessed right with the number to duplicate.

It was a great banquet but I am worn out. I shall sleep good tonight.

Setting Up For Our Valentine Banquet

I spent most of my day setting up for our Valentine Banquet tomorrow night at our Family Life Center. I set up our new portable sound system that Lee and I built on Tuesday. I hauled all my video equipment over to the Family Life Center. I am just plain worn out. My back hurts from lifting those heavy speakers. My neck hurts. This is really hard work for a use-to-be office boy.

Tonight Mary and I went to the Bible College class. It was fantastic.

Lee Can Hardly Talk

We are not sure what's going on with Lee but he can hardly talk.

I am afraid they damaged something when they put the breathing tube into his lungs in the ER at St. Vincents Hospital when he was taken in for pnemonia. They had a lot of trouble putting in and then Lee pulled it out once while in the ICU and they had to put it in again. I sure hope they didn't do permanent damage.

He may just have a sore throat. He is going to the doctor about it tomorrow.

New Video Work Station

I ordered a refurbished HP computer from buy.com. I spent a big part of the day loading software and tweaking it. The mouse and keyboard that came with it would not work. I must have spent nearly two hours on the phone with HP tech support today about the problem. They are now over nighting me a new keyboard and mouse.

It has a 2ghz processor with 2 gigs of ram and a 320 gig hard drive that runs at 7200 rpms. I am hoping it will meet my needs editing videos for Little Rock Videography LLC.

New Portable Sound System

Today Lee and I spent most of the day building a new portable sound system at Crystal Hill Baptist Church. We are trying to get it ready for our Valentine Banquet scheduled for Friday night. The new system is in a rack mount cabinet on wheels. It is really sounding great. It has a new challenge for both of us. It has a computerized equalizer. It fills the building with "Pink Noise" for about 2-3 minutes while it is doing it's thing. It's really neat to watch it self-adjust while making all that racket.

New Acer LCD Monitor

I have two Air Desks. I use to use one for my work laptop and one for my personal laptop. I reworked one of them today and drilled 4 holes in it so I could mount my new Acer LCD Monitor to it. It is working out very nice to have a 20 inch monitor as part of my Air Desks setup.

Virtual Church In Kansas City

I don't recommend it but it was very nice to get up and tune into our live services at Crystal Hill Baptist Church in Little Rock on the internet.

This afternoon we drove back to Little Rock and barely got to Crystal Hill in time for the evening service.

It Was Micro Center For Robby and I

We don't have a Micro Center in Little Rock and I miss it big time. The closest thing we have is a CompUSA and they are going out of business.

I made too trips to Micro Center. The first time was to pick up a 20 inch Acer LCD monitor for $179. I thought that was a good deal and I needed one. The last 19 inch tube monitor I bought at Micro Center about 5 years ago was around $500. Our second trip was to just look around. I ended up buying a hard drive to USB adaptor.

Rob and I had a great time together while the ladies were at the shower.

Back To Kansas City

I can't believe it. We've only been gone a couple months and here we are on our way back to Kansas City. They are having a baby shower for Rachel tomorrow afternoon and Mary thought she just had to come to the shower. We are spending the night with Robby and Rachel tonight. They have a very nice house in the Shawnee Mission area. We stayed up way too late talking about every thing. I guess we had a lot of catching up to do.

New Dinning Room Table

A few weeks ago when we helped Scott and Lacey move into their new house we gave them our dinning room table. Last week Mary talked me into a new table. It arrived at the warehouse yesterday and this morning we picked it up with Lee's truck. Then I spent the rest of the day trying to put it together. Here it is bedtime and I still lack building two chairs. I am about to decide it would have been worth it to pay Ashley Furniture $75 to deliver it and put it together. I put $23 worth of gas in Lee's truck and many hours building things. I think I went in the hole on the $75 I was trying to save.

Luby's for Supper

We were hoping to take Scott out to eat for his birthday tonight but he was tied up. Since were in town anyhow and we had our heart set for eating out we decided to go to Luby's. It was great and we really enjoyed ourselves.

DVDit Pro 6.3

After reading the reviews I brought and downloaded DVDit Pro today. I spent the entire afternoon reading and working my way through the user manual. Along about 4:30 p.m. I decided this program was not as good as Pinnacle Studio 11 that I already have. I ask for a refund. They said they would refund my money. I feel like I wasted a big part of my day.

The service tonight was great. Everything was just what we needed. Praise the Lord for Godly Spirit filled pastors.

Bible College Tonight

Mary and I went to our Bible College class tonight. It just gets better and better. The teacher is outstanding in his presentation. We are really enjoying the course.

Editing Wedding Video

I received some video from a wedding last month from some folks at church. They wanted a DVD. I worked all evening until I finally captured a good copy on my hard drive.

SAM's came down on their price for DVD's and we went to town and brought 1800 printable DVD's this afternoon. I'm getting ready for my trip to Bogalusa next month to the BEAMS Bible Conference. We plan to burn hundreds of DVD's for the week long revival.

Lunch at Home

Mary fixed us a very nice lunch today. Scott and Lacey are still with us. They seemed to really enjoy their time with us today. Scott's four wheeler's are parked in our barn and he went four wheel'n this afternoon.

House Cleaning

Mary worked me to death today. We cleaned house all day long.

Scott and Lacy came out tonight and told us what a gret job we did today.

Very Trying Day

Today we payed bills. We spent our Sprint Retirement paying for Little Rock Videography LLC and Steve Brown Ministries. I retired and left Embarq trusting God to make a way. We are still trusting God to open doors for us. We have one big door opened at Ben's Ford Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Lousiana the last of March for a week long Bible Conference. I am working hard getting ready for that week and at the same time trusting that other doors will open.
