Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Homemade Video Lights

I've always heard that poor folks have poor ways. Since I am out of money and need video lights for the tent revival next week in Bogalusa, I went to work today building two of them. I fabricated a device so I can mount two halogen shop lights on my 13 foot tall light stands. After a lot of trial and error they seem to work fine. I guess I'll find out next week.

Worked with Heritage's New Video Cameras

Tonight I went to Heritage Baptist Church to help my brother with his new video cameras. They have three very nice professional cameras and I was able to help them with a few things they did not know. It was nice to help someone else with their video setup.

I went to church this morning to install my pulleys on my new clothes line cable puller. The ceiling folks had started installing the dropped ceiling. It won't be long now that we can hang the new speakers.

The Guys Took My Job Away From Me

I have been training several guys to run the cameras for me during the past few months. Today I did not get to run the cameras at all. I just supervised every service. We had a great day in the Lords house today.

Clothes Line Cable Puller

Scott and I went to the new church building and put a clothes line style pull rope in the ceiling from one end of the building to the other. Any cables that we forgot can now be pulled in very easy for many years to come. We sure enjoyed the sky lift bucket. It makes it very easy to work in the very high ceiling.

An Afternoon of Bush-Hogging

I spent my afternoon bush-hogging the pasture. I kept thinking it was going to rain but it never did so I just kept on mowing. I would guess that I mowed about 2/3 of the pasture. It got dark on me and I had to quit.

Mary and I spent a great deal of time today studying for Bible College Test tonight. We think we did very good on the test. It's good to get one final behind us.

Bush-hogged The Yard

I'm sure my friends in Kansas City will laugh at this but I have neglected the yard until I had to bush-hog it today. The grass in places was knee deep. After I finished the yard I headed to the pasture and mowed until I had to quite and go to church this evening.

Two 24 Channel Snakes

I have dreaded pulling in our two 24 channel microphone snakes at church for the past six months. Today our two electricians volunteered to help us pull in the snakes. They had pulleys and methods that made the job so easy. I an so thankful to have that job behind us. As far as I know all the wires are in the ceiling and the ceiling folks can start putting in the grid and ceiling tiles.

Riding The Sky Lift

I spent my entire day riding around on a lift in the ceiling of our new church auditorium. I am very tired this evening. I pulled in all the choir and house microphone cables and all the the camera cables. I guess I'll have to go back and finish a few things in the morning but for the most part I think I am done. In a week or so we'll be able to hang our new speakers and start installing all the amplifiers and mixers.

Hamburger Cookout

Scott and Lacey brought all their kids out. Then Lee brought Preston and Drew over and we pulled out the grill and cooked a pile of hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats. It was great. We all ate our fill and had a great time.

Scott, Lacey, J.T., Bella, Bradley, and Ashley all spent the night. It's been a busy evening.

I finally got the BEAMS DVD's finished. I shipped them 90 DVD's this afternoon.

I had my first doctors appointment with our new doctor. Mary and I both like Dr. Gray. He seems to be through and we enjoy talking to him.

Lay-out For New Choir Mics

Lee and I spent most of our day measuring and marking the floor for 8 choir mics, 3 House Mics, and 3 sound pressure level mics in our new church auditorium. Now I have to make up all these mic cables so we can pull them into the ceiling.

Mary Home From Kansas City

I spent 15 hours in the bed last night and today trying to recuperate. My throat is sore and I don't feel well.

Mary has been to Kansas City to see the new grand babies while I was in Gulfport. She came home late this evening.

Happy Birthday Video for Preston

I ended up at church this afternoon shooting more video for our oldest grandson. It was Preston's 12th birthday. I had a great time shooting the kids playing games and eating ice cream and cake. Now comes the real work. Editing over an hours video down to less than 15 minutes.

Home at Last

I slept in at the motel this morning because I was so tired from the weeks activities. I spent until nearly 2:00 p.m. packing all my video equipment in the van for the trip to Little Rock. It took me nearly 9 hours to make the trip. I think I'll sleep good tonight.

A Very Hard Day of Loading and Unloading

This has been my hardest day since I started shooting video. I had to pack up and load my van in Bogalusa, LA. and then drive to Gulfport, MS. to the BEAMS headquarters and Faith Baptist Church. Then I had to setup equipment at both locations and be ready to shoot video at 8:00 in the morning. When I finally got to bed about 11:30 p.m. I was dead tired. And I do mean dead tried. I can not remember when I was this tired. But, I am ready to video the events starting in the morning at BEAMS and tomorrow night at Faith Baptist Church. I am sheduled to shoot 17 events during the next 3 days.

Our Last Day In Bogalusa, LA.

I hate to see this meeting come to a close. The BEAMS Revival has stirred my soul. The singing has been outstanding. I have loved videoing this event. Thank you Lord for allowing me to come to the Ben's Ford Baptist Church in Bogalusa, LA. The people gave us another phenomenal love offering tonight.

No Videos Today

Today there was no church. I have been very busy these last 7 days and nights preparing and shooting video for live streaming and burning DVD's. I would guess that I have given away over 600 DVD's this past week. The preaching and singing have been outstanding. I have worked myself to death and loving every minute of it. I could not be happier doing anything else. I sweat a lot while setting up and spend a lot of time behind the cameras, but I love it. God has been so good to Mary and I. The people here at Ben's Ford Baptist Church in Bogalusa, LA. have just loved us to death. We love it. Their love offerings every night have been beyond belief and way beyond our expectations.

New Orleans

Today we felt that we had most of our problems fixed and we lofted all day in New Orleans. We really enjoyed the aquarium down by the Mississippi River. We got back to Bogalusa in time for church tonight and seemly produced a good DVD and the reports were that the broadcast was also good.

We were asked to go to Gulfport, Mississippi next week for the National BEAMS Workers conference. I told them we would come. We will firm that up tomorrow night.

We Spent Most of The Day Lip Syncing

People watching our streaming video last night complained that the lips were not sync'd with the audio. We spent a lot of time working on that today. We finally figured it out. They were listening to BibleBelieversRadio.com and watching the video stream instead of listening to the audio that accompanies the video stream. David fixed his website so that can not happen again.

We also got our audio compressor doing a much better job of controlling the audio.

We are really enjoying ourselves at the Ben's Ford Baptist Church this week.

The Electricity Went Out For Hours

About noon today we were working hard at church tweaking things and getting ready for the service tonight when the electricity went out. We went to lunch and found about 3 spans of power wires had been taken down with a fallen tree. It looked like such a mess that we would not have electricity for many hours. We went to our cabin to finish our day.

When we went back to church about 5:30 p.m. the power was restored so things went well at church. It was a great service with great singing.
