Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Setup For The Campmeeting

We arrived at the campmeeting site about 9:00 a.m. this morning and went to work. We left the area about 7:00 p.m. tonight. It was a long hard day. We had to run cable about 800 feet to get to the DSL line in the preachers home. Their three dogs got bite by a copper head and they are not doing very well. We ran over a large copper head in the road about a half mile away.

They did feed us a fantastic meal of barbeque chicken with all the trimmings. We had an enjoyable day with the folks for Bible Believers Baptist Church out in the mountains of North Carolina.

We Found Moravian Falls, NC

We checked into our motel in Wilksbora, NC and started exploring the area. We finally found Moravian Falls that the town is named after. We also finally found the tabernacle way out in the mountains where the campmeeting will be held this coming week. We will save setting up our equipment until tomorrow.

My Last Day Work On New Church Building

I say the last day because we will hold the first service in the new building this coming Sunday. Tomorrow Mary and I leave for Moravian Falls, NC to video a campmeeting. I enjoyed a good day working with Lee, Wayne, and Glenn. Thank you Lord for the beautiful new building. I wish I could be there for the first service. We had our very last service in the old building tonight. It was kind of sad.

Bush-Hogged The Yard

I bush-hogged the yard this evening. It was getting dark I hope I didn't miss too many places. We're going to North Carolina Thursday and time is running out. We're still trying to finish up things in the new church building to be ready for Sunday. I don't think I'll get everything done before I have to leave.

Moved Out Of Old Church Building

Lee and I spent the day with Wayne Gray moving all our sound and video equipment out of our old church building. That meant lots of trips up and down the stairs. We made our last trip about 4:30 p.m. and as far as we know we are finished with the old building. We left one mixer and a few microphones because the youth will be using the building in a few weeks.

Our Last Sunday Service in Old Church

It was kind of sad at church today. This was our last Sunday services in our old church building. We have been building our new auditorium for over 5 years. It is finally ready. Next Sunday will be our first Sunday in the new building. It is exciting and sad at the same time. We have had some great times in the old building.

Stage Monitors Are Ready

I spent the afternoon with Lee at church programming and hooking up the monitor speakers on the stage of our new church building. The new system is sounding great. We love it. We hope to hold the first choir practice on the new stage tomorrow afternoon.

Remote Control for Power Amps

I built a remote control box for our new sound system at church today. We can now turn on or off the power amps located in the back of the new auditorum from the sound room located in the front of the auditorum on the second floor. That should save thousands of steps in the years to come.

Mary's First Song In New Church Building

Mary and I were coming home late this evening and I stopped to show her the progress with the new building. Before I knew it she was standing behind the pulpit singing "God Walks The Dark Hills" with an accompaniment track I was playing through the new sound system. When she finished she said she could not believe how good it sounded. It is a tremendous sound system and she did sound great.

Back To Work At Church

I met Lee at the new church building today. We made a little more progress with the new sound system. I leave next Thursday for Moravian Falls, North Carolina and I really would like to be finished with everything before I leave. Carlos played our new Yamaha Keyboard through the new sound system for a little while today and it sound really wonderfull. I can't wait for a real keyboard player to play it.

New ThinkPad T61P

I have had my new ThinkPad T61P that Lee brought me for nearly a month and haven't got much good out of it. Tonight I finally crossed a big hurdle with it. I loaded Outlook and copied my Outlook.pst file from my old laptop. I am beginning to feel some comfort zone with it. It is running Vista Ultimate and I still like XP Pro the best. I am struggling to get along with it.

Recuperation Day

I guess today was a Recuperation Day. We did not leave the house all day. We both have sneezed our heads off all day long. This head cold is miserable.

Virtual Church Today

Mary and I are both down with a cold today. We tuned into the CrystalHillBaptistChurch.com Live Streaming for both services today. We also watched several other churches online. Thank the Lord for the churches that stream their live services. One of the best is North Valley Baptist Church in California. We watch their services nearly every week.

Trip to Little Rock Arkansas

Today was pack and travel day. David and I spent the morning packing our equipment. We left Union, Mississippi about 12:45 p.m. We arrived at home about 7:30 p.m. I have an awful cold. David drove for me the last half of the trip. I am very tired and sneezing my head off tonight.

Jubilee - Packed House

Tonight was Jubilee night at the Happiness Hill Girls Home. Their little chapel was designed for 80 people max. The attendance tonight was 116. I hooked up a closed-circuit TV in their school room for the overflow crowd. It was a night I won't forget for a long time. Check out the outstanding message by Dr. Stephen Barnes on SteveBrownMinistries.com.

Cabin On The Lake

I am staying in the most beautiful place on a small lake. The room is just outstanding with a king size bed. The only problem is that I spend all my awake time working on things over at the Happiness Hill Girls Home and I only get to come to the lake late at night to sleep. I am very thankful for a very nice place to rest.

Problems with Router

After many lost connections with my router I disconnected it and plugged the 450' cable from the satellite modem directly into my computer to do the broadcast tonight. The connection stayed up all night and worked flawlessly. I can't seem to figure out why I can not run the connection through my router.

Great Preaching

I thought tonight's preaching was great. I broadcast two messages tonight and made 40 DVD's of it. It's been a long day of working with the video equipment but the messages made it all worthwhile. Thank you Lord for Great Preaching. Check it out at SteveBrownMinistries.com.

Satellite Internet Access

Bro. David Harrell here at Happiness Hill Girls Home had Hughsnet install a satellite broadband system in his home last Monday. I ran a 450 foot cable from the Chapel to his home and hooked into his satellite modem. I spent most of my day today trying to get my WiFi router to work with it. After many hours I finally had success. I had to turn off DHCP in the router and plug the cable from his satellite modem into a LAN port instead of the WAN port. Not sure I understand, but it works. Thank you Lord for a successful day.

Liberty Baptist Church - Raleigh, Mississippi

The Happiness Hill Girls Home had an engagement at the Liberty Baptist Church in Raleigh, Mississippi this morning. David and I followed them down to the meeting. It was a great service with the girls singing and Bro. Jack High preaching.

After the service the church had dinner on the grounds. I think it was the biggest pot luck meal I have seen. The food was fantastic.

We drove back to Union, Mississippi and had a great service in the chapel. The girls were at their best all day long. We broadcasted our first service this evening.

The Bunk House

David and I finished our journey to Union, Mississippi this afternoon about 2:00 p.m. We spent the rest of the day setting up our video equipment at the Happiness Hill Girls Home. When it came time for bed late into the night we were introduced to "The Bunk House". I felt like I was in the Army again. I do think the bunks were a little more comfortable than those in the Army. I had forgotten what it was like to share the bathroom with others.

Take Down In Greenbrier, Arkansas

It has been a very busy evening at the Faith Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Arkansas. After broadcasting the evening service and selling DVD's the church men helped David and I take down all our eguipment, pack it and load it into our van. Then David and I drove to Brinkley, Arkansas and spent the night at the Days Inn. I am very tired.

Two Cars To Greenbrier, Arkansas

Mary and I's schedule did not work out very good this evening. She was busy entertaining the grandkids and I had to go to Greenbrier to get ready for the services tonight. Mary ended up driving the Honda. She slid in just as the service was starting at 7:00 p.m. The singing and preaching was great. The sermon was titled "How To Pray For Your Children". All I can say about it is, WOW! I needed that.

She Left Her Pot

The preachers message tonight was titled "She Left Her Pot". I thought it was a great message. You can listen to it on SteveBrownMinistries.com

I finally after about a year of waiting was able to turn the power on for the first time for our new sound system. It is not anywhere close to being wired correctly but I was anxious to get some sound out of those new speakers. Carlos and I thought it sounded great. I played a tape through the system for nearly an hour. It is beatiful.

We Set The 40 Channel Mixer In It's New Home

Today I vaccumed and mopped the new sound room in our new church building and Carlos helped me set the new Soundcraft 40 channel mixer on the desktop. When I left to get ready to go to Greenbrier Lee was making preparations to start hooking it up. It won't be long now till we have sound coming out of those new speakers.

Mary Sang At Faith Baptist Church

Mary sang one of our favorite songs tonight at Faith Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Arkansas. The song is titled "If You Could See Where I Am You Wouldn't Cry". The people just loved the song and they loved Mary. It was great. The audio mix from the house sound did not get Mary's voice very good for my DVD but she sounded great in the auditorium. Bro. Ragland did a great job with the message tonight. He is certainly an Old Time Preacher. I like Old Time Preaching. Check it out on SteveBrownMinistries.com

Great First Day at Faith Baptist in Greenbrier, AR

I arrived at Faith Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Arkansas about 8:00 a.m this morning. We enjoyed the Mercy River Boys during the first hour and Dr. Mike Ragland delivered a great message this morning and again tonight. It is going to be a great week with the folks in Greenbrier.

First Day In Greenbrier, Arkansas

I left home this morning about 8:30 a.m. and returned about 8:40 p.m this evening. It has been a long day of setting up my video equipment at Faith Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Arkansas. The people are very nice. They had a youth conference this afternoon between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. that slowed me down a little. I have it all tested and ready for the Mercy River Boys in the morning at 10:00 a.m. I believe it's going to be a great week with the folks at Faith Baptist Church.

New Outlets

It took my friend Wayne and I all day long to install 11 outlets in our new video balcony. We used Lee's Zip saw to saw the holes in the birch plywood wall. We ran armour flex or curl flex #12 wires to all the outlets. It was a much bigger job than I thought it would be.
