Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Dickson, Tennessee

We had hoped to get away this morning but it took us all day to get packed. We finally left the house about 3:00 p.m. headed for Liberty Baptist Church in Mooresville, North Carolina for our next meeting. We made it to Dickson, Tennessee and landed in the Days Inn. We still lack about 450 miles for tomorrow.

The John Bishop Story Part 2

Last night Mary and I watched "The John Bishop Story" and just knew that Lee needed to see this story. Tonight we took Lee and Preston out to eat and invited them to come home with us and watch "The John Bishop Story" with us. They consented. I could hardly believe it. They watched both DVD's. Disc #1 and Disc #2. We took them home about 11:00 p.m. It seemed like the story really touched their hearts. I sure hope it helps. It is a tremendous story for any one that hurts, for whatever reason. Mary and I highly recomend this two disc set for anyone that is hurting. Come to think of it. Who in the world does not hurt over something? Sin has taken it's toll on all of us.

The John Bishop Story

DVD Cover

I think our biggest accomplishment today was to view "The John Bishop Story" on DVD. This has to be one of the most moving stories that I have ever heard. I guess one reason it touched our hearts so much is because we knew Bro. John Bishop before his illness.

To order the DVD Click Here.

Following is a quote from their website about the DVD:

For the 1st time on DVD, "The John Bishop Story" For our generation, Brother John Bishop exemplifies the longsuffering and faith of Job. Although he could have been overwhelmed by his trials, Job proclaimed, “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21). Brother Bishop has endured rare and difficult health problems, yet humbly he continues to state,
“God is always good, and God is always right.”

God is so Good: "The John Bishop Story” chronicles one man’s illness and its impact on his family and ministry. This video features powerful preaching, testimonies, and interviews. Brother John and Sister Bishop’s story will encourage every viewer, especially those who are hurting.

Psalm 34:8 “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

True Worship

I can't get over the Sunday School lesson this morning. It was about True Worship and False Worship. I was reminded why we go to church. True Worship is Worshiping our Lord in Spirit and Truth. What is Truth? Thy Word is Truth.

I know I have heard this all my life but today it seemed to ring true in my heart. It was great just to go to church and not run cameras or sound systems or anything. Just singing and worshiping God. It was a great day at Heritage Baptist Temple.

A Day At Home

Today is one of the few days that I never left the house. I worked most of the day on my new blog site - SteveBrownMinistries.com/BLOG. I have finally finished blogging all our meeting for the year 2008. Now I can start fresh and try to keep it up to date as the Lord gives us meetings in 2009. Our calendar is already looking pretty full for next year.

Picasa Gift CD

One of the hazards of taking a lot of pictures is that folks think you're the photographer. Mary had me making 11 Picasa Gift CD's today of the Ball get-together yesterday. I had never done that before but Picasa turned out to be a very nice tool to make a CD slide show of a group of pictures. Then I had to design a nice label for the CD's. It turned out to be a fun project.

Christmas with The Ball Family

This afternoon most of the Ball Family got together for a fun time of fellowship and food at Roy and Vivian Ball's home. The fellowship was great and the food was great too. We had a lot of fun taking pictures of each other. Thank you Roy and Vivian for opening your home to the Ball Clan.

Started A New Blog Site

Today I spent most of my time working on our new blog for Steve Brown Ministries Blog. This blog will be used for our meeting reports. I wrote reports for all our meeting from December back through October. I tried several different methods and the Google Blog seemed to be the best and easiest way to go.

We had the privilege of having breakfast with Lee, Preston, and Drew at Cracker Barrel this morning. Lee had his usual 5 eggs over easy with biscuits and gravy. We enjoyed visiting with them.

Adding CD's To Our Work Load

We purchased a new Microboards CopyWriter Live to allow us to make master CD's in real time while we are making master DVD's at all our meetings this next year. Mary thinks she will have time to run the CD CopyWriter and have the master CD ready when I run to the duplicators to make DVD's at the end of services. We will now dedicate one or two of our duplicators to making CD's. Our plan is to offer DVD's and CD's to people as they leave the church.

Theophilos Audio Bible Problems with Vista

I have tried off and on for several months to get my Theophilos Audio Bible to work on my new Vista Thinkpad. It would not utter a peek even after following my own step by step instructions on my June 11, 2007 blog post. Finally today I found the answer on the Theophilos Audio Bible FAQ.

So now I have added a new step to install the Theophilos Audio Bible on Theophilos version 3.16. Here are the steps:

1. Install the latest free version of Theophilos from Theophilos.com into the default folder. In my case that is "C:\Program Files\theo30".

2. Install the TrueSpeech files described in the Theophilos Audio Bible FAQ.

3. Copy the Scourby folder from the Theophilos Audio Bible CD into the "C:\Program Files\theo30" folder. You should then have a "C:\Program Files\theo30\scourby" folder.

4. Copy these two files from the Theophilos Audio Bible CD into the "C:\Program Files\theo30" folder.
theocd.inf
verses1.nar

5. Start Theophilos and set "Data files path" in
Program-->Settings-->Paths to
"C:\Program Files\theo30".

6. Close Theophilos and Start it again. You can now do "Verse Sound" or "Auto Play" in Theophilos 3.1.6.

When A Moment Seems Like An Eternity

This afternoon I read the little book "When A Moment Seems Like An Eternity" by Dr. David M. Harrison. The little book takes a look at suffering and affliction and how God's grace and mercy is with you even during your darkest hour when you think God has forsaken you.

Three Miles In Sam's Club

I have not walked much since we were in Corpus Christi on the beach. Today we needed a few things from Sam's Club so I turned Mary loose on her scooter to do the shopping while I walked every isle several times at at good clip. I walked a little over an hour. At my normal pace that would be about 3 miles.

DVD Albums

Our DVD rack was getting kind of bare during the past two months so today made up a bunch of new DVD Albums.

I spent a couple hours helping Mary buy groceries. That's not my favorite thing to do but today it was necessary.

Computer Graphics

I spent a big part of my day today creating graphics for future meetings. I have created DVD and CD labels. I created graphics for AD's on my webpage. I guess that I'm not very good at this because it takes me so long to create these graphics.

A Whole Day At Home

This is the first time I have spent a whole day at home in a long, long time. I worked on the TriCaster Studio learning more about how to do Live Text from a remote computer. I worked on my blog and graphics for future meetings. I also unloaded all our equipment from the van. It was nice just to spent a whole day at home.

A Hard Day of Packing

After a doctors appointment this morning I spent about 6 hours packing all our video equipment and loading it into our KIA mini-van by myself. As far as I know this is our last meeting for 2008.

We leave home January 1, 2009 for North Carolina for our first meeting in 2009. We'll leave there and drive to Texarkana, Texas. I hope our little van can keep up with us for another year.

Mary Gets Her Laptop Back

UPS delievered a refurbished IBM R51 ThinkPad this afternoon. I know we have computers running out our ears but Mary's laptop is always tied up in the ministry and in church somewhere. She misses her computer badly when I have to use it in the ministry. This refurbished ThinkPad will allow her to have her last years Christmas present back.

Final Day On The Road for 2008

We completed our final 3 1/2 week tour of the nation by driving from Dallas, Texas to our home in Little Rock, Arkansas. Our 3 1/2 week trip took us to 11 States and broadcast the live services in Gaffney, South Carolina, Goodland, Kansas, and Corpus Christi, Texas. It's been a great year but we are glad to be home.

Late Leaving Corpus Christi, Texas

I was tired and slept in a little extra this morning. It took us nearly 6 hours to pack and load our equipment. We did not get away from Corpus Christi until about 5:00 p.m. this evening. We spent the night just south of Dallas.

Last Night In Corpus Christi

This is a wide angle view of the Peoples Baptist Church on the left, The Rebecca Girls home is the big two story building in the middle, and the smaller building on the right is the Jubilee Home for ladies.

We were able to tour the Lester Roloff memorabilia room this afternoon. This is a late picture of Bro. Lester Roloff and the four girls who were killed in the plane that took all their lives in 1982.

Here is a couple pictures of the plane they were in after the crash.

Back To Padre Island

Today it was back to Padre Island with our friends August & Patty Rosado. The waves were really rolling in today. It was very calm when we were here this past Monday afternoon. We walked about 2 miles up the beach and Mary came to our rescue and picked us up.

This grapefruit tree was growing right beside the Peoples Baptist Church It was a real treat to pick fresh grapefruit from the tree. These grapefruits may have been the best I have ever eaten.

Padre Island

We drove out to Padre Island this afternoon.
We found this beautiful butterfly along side the road on Padre Island.
When we drove out on the beach we found my brother David trying to break into his own truck. He forget and locked his keys laying on the front seat.
He had just finished walking about a mile up the beach.
There were lots of birds feeding along the edge of the Gulf.
We saw a lot of beautiful sights along the beach.
We left the island on a free ferry back to the mainland.
