Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

More Snow

I took the SODS team to Haywards BQ for lunch today in my Honda. (Me, Chris, Andy, and Jeff Ratcliff) By the time we came back from lunch everything was white with snow and it's still snowing cats and dogs. I may have to take off and drive to Little Rock to escape this stuff.

Time To Buy Groceries

I went to Sam's to get some Tilopia this evening. I ended up spending over a hundred dollars for food. That should keep me in food for a month or two.

Very Hard Drive Back To Kansas City

Since I had two meeting that I needed to attend in person today, I decided that I better drive back to Kansas City after church last night. I got to my bed this morning about 1:00 a.m. My eyes have been pretty heavy all day today. Last night I had a lot of trouble keeping my eyes open while driving.

Nice Day At Crystall Hill

We enjoyed a nice day at church today. I noticed that there is never anyone to run the video camera. I might just volunteer to do that. I can't sing very good in the choir anyway. The choir would probably like it if I changed jobs.

Installing DSL For A Friend

I was trying to help a friend install his new DSL today. I spent over 4 hours of very hard IT type work trying to get it to work.

Instead of a "LAN or High-Speed Internet" section in the Network Connections I had a Bridged Network section. I have never seen this. There was not TCP/IP stack for the Local Area connection. I finally right-clicked on it and clicked remove bridging. Then I had a "LAN or High-Speed Internet" section and the Local Area Connection had a TCP/IP stack.

I still had to work with three Earthlink technicians to get it working.

I have waded through snow every day this week to get to my car. While driving home to Little Rock this evening I drove out of the snow a little before I got to the Arkansas State line.

1960 GMC Fuel Pump

I went to NAPA to pick up the fuel pump for our 1960 GMC and it was the wrong one. It did not match the picture in the book or the old fuel pump the came off the truck. They said there was one at the Little Rock NAPA warehouse. I guess I'll have Mary pick it up tomorrow.

LMC Truck

This evening after work I went to LMC Truck in Lenxa looking for a fuel pump for our 1960 GMC truck. They did not have one and sent me to NAPA. They ordered one from the warehouse.

Lots Of Ice

I was amazed at the amount ice on the trees coming home last night. The bulk of the ice was about 40 miles north and south of Interstate 44.

Shut Down The PTOC.org Website

I made the final call to globalservers.com today and discontinued our service with them. They broke my code and could never get it running again so the club moved the website to another hosting company. I guess I am officially out of the web business with the Possum Trotters.

Washing Machine Quit

Yesterday it was the well pump. Today it's the washing machine. Scott went down stairs this afternoon to wash some clothes and found that the washing machine would not empty the water. Then I had visions of a new washing machine. After tearing it apart and checking a bunch of stuff it started working. We don't know why but we're glad it's now back in operation.

Water Pump Quit

I was sitting here this morning enjoying the morning when Mary said the kitchen faucet was just dripping. I had visions that water pump had finally burned up. After much checking I discovered that the electricl contracts on the pressure switch was burned very badly. I cleaned them with some sand paper and it seems to be working fine.

I keep hoping it will last until we can get the city water hooked up. The water company set the stack for the meter. Now we need to dig a ditch and lay some pipe.

Wild Game Night At Church

I got to Little Rock this evening in time for the Wild Game Night. This was a men only event and WOW, was it ever a huge feast. Huge piles of frog legs, a whole hog, beautiful fried cat fish, rabbit, deer meat fixed all kinds of ways. It was the biggest feast I think I have ever been to. I really enjoyed it, except for eating too much.

Still Ice Everywhere

The ice from the weekend ice storm is still hanging around. At least most of the streets are clear. 101st Terrace has still got a thick layer of ice on it.

I started today about 6:30 a.m. and did not quit until nearly 6:00 p.m. With all the ice and the extrem cold we did not even go out to walk at lunch.

Lots of Ice and Snow In Kansas City

I worked at home in Little Rock today. There was still lots of ice and snow on the roads going to Kansas City. I drove back to Kansas City tonight after work. The roads were pretty clear and I had no problems. There sure is a lot of ice everywhere up here in Missouri.

Another Day in Scott and Laura's Bathroom

We tried to finish up their bathroom project today. We put on two coats of paint on the walls and set the new toilet in place. We installed a the light fixture over the sinks and installed a new cabinet with two new sinks. It's really looking good. We'll have to come back another day to finish the crown mold and base boards.

Funeral For Jan Veazey

I took a half day of vacation today so I could attend Jan Veazey's funeral at Ten Mile Baptist Church in Lonsdale, Arkansas. Jan played the piana while I was music director at Pleasant View Baptist Church in North Little Rock. She was a very dear lady the same age as Mary and a good friend.

This afternoon I drove back to Kansas City.

Another Day In The Bathroom

Today is ceramic tile day. We borrowed a tile cutter and a wet saw from Laura's brother. The wet saw sure saved the day. I was Scott's helper. He did a beautiful job laying the tile in the new bathroom. It's all down and waiting to dry so we can grout it.

VIPR - A Dead Project

I have been trying to load the VIPR Project on my laptop at work for weeks. Most folks get it loaded in a day or two. I still can not make it run on my laptop. Today we were told that the whole project is to be put on hold. VIPR is going away. I wonder what God is trying to teach me here.

Long Day At Work

I arrived at work this morning about 6:30 a.m. and I left work a little after 6:00 p.m. this evening. I am tired.

Lee did a great job streaming the live audio with JetCast tonight. I really enjoyed being able to tune into the service at Crystal Hill.

New Years Day 2007

It was back to work in Scott and Laura's bath room this morning. When I left about 4:00 p.m. to return to Kansas City the sheet rock was mostly floated and the backer board was down for the tile. It's begining to look like a bath room again.

I got to Kansas City about 10:10 p.m.
