Steve's Blog
I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.
About Me
On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

After a couple hours of trouble shooting and a call to tech support the duplicators worked good tonight. We had a great service. Bro. Bagley titled his message "Jack's Old Hat". It was great. One of the best. The music was fantastic.

Duplicator Problems
Things went very well today until our second batch of DVD's tonight. The first batch of 60 DVD's went well and we handed them out quickly. The second batch refused to run. I finally got 20 more duplicated by doing 10 at a time. I have my work cut out for me tomorrow to get them all working again.

A Hard Day Of Setting Up In Bogalusa
David and I were at Ben's Ford Baptist Church this morning at 9:00 a.m. We spent the entire day setting up our equipment trying to be ready for Sunday morning service at 8:30 a.m. By the time we got back to the cabin we were worn out.
Mary drove down to meet us this afternoon. She showed up about 4:00 this evening. The bed sure felt good tonight.

Traveling to Bogalusa, Louisiana
My brother David and I spent the day traveling to Bogalusa, LA. I took all the seats out and our KIA Van and it is crambed full of video and audio equipment. Tomorrow we will start setting up for a one week BEAMS Revival at Ben's Ford Baptist Church. The church put us in a very nice cabin on the Pearl River. Wow! This is nice.

Happy Birthday To Me
I am feeling really old today. I turned 62 and officially old enough to start drawing Social Security. The problem is they won't give me my first check until May 28th. That's a bummer. I need it now.
I put the last stick of fire wood in the stove a little after midnight this morning. Thank you daddy for cutting that load of wood several years ago. We have enjoyed it this winter.
I forgot to mention that Scott helped me cut a load of wood this past Tuesday. We have it in the dry and it should be ready to burn next winter. Thank you Scott.
One more picture of the twins.

Lee, Angela, Preston and Drew On Vacation
Here is a few excerts from an email from Angela this morning. I believe they are enjoying their vacation in the Great Smokey Mountains.
All this makes me wish we had been able to go on vacation with them.
...I opened the blinds in our cabin and blinked twice…..there was little pepper flakes of snow falling outside. I ran and opened all the blinds and turned on the fireplace and the boys and I sat and enjoyed the snow for a while. It was a nice morning...
We headed for Cherokee, NC. As we climbed up the mountains the snow got harder and harder. I was in Heaven on EARTH. The boys and I oohhh’d and aughed the whole way. We stopped and let them throw some snowballs and pick some ice cycles. The snow got harder when we came upon a pretty waterfall and we stopped again to take some pictures...
All this makes me wish we had been able to go on vacation with them.

Mary Off To Kansas City
It use to be that Mary took off and left me in Kansas City. Now that I'm in Little Rock she takes off and leaves me in Little Rock and goes to Kansas City. It seems that I'm always in the wrong city.
Anyhow she left this afternoon for Kansas City to be there in the morning when the twins will be born around 7 or 8 o'clock. It sure is lonesome around here.

Both Cars In The Garage
It finally happened. Scott and Lacey came out today and helped me move my big stuff from Kansas City out to the barn. Lacey swept out the garage for me. I am so happy being able once again to park our cars in the garage.
We also cut a tree down for firewood next winter. We didn't get very far before the chainsaw quit and we had to quit. I guess it's back to the shop with the chainsaw.
We went up to Lee's house and got his tractor. We got it all greased up and ready to do some bush hogging but now I need some diesel fuel for the tractor. I guess that project will have to wait.

Cleaning Out The Garage
I spent a lot of time today trying to get my stuff I moved here from Kansas City stored somewhere besides my garage. I miss being able to park in the garage. I made a lot of progress but I still lack a lot.

Sony PD170 Envy
I can't help it. I went by my brothers house for a minute tonight and he has a new Sony PD170. It's the video camera I tried to buy when I brought my three VX2100's. It's very nice and I still wish that's the camera I had purchased. Maybe someday the Lord will let me have some of them.

An Excuse To Go Back To Hot Springs
When we were packing up my video equipment Last Sunday night a bunch of guys were packing my stuff up in the balcony while I was packing in the lobby. They inadvertently packed one of the churches network cables in my tub. I used it as an excuse to go back to Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Springs tonight. We truly enjoyed the services this time. I was not distracted by running video cameras.
I used the opportunity to fill one of my 5 gallon jugs with water from one of the Hot Springs. I guess I canceled out all the health benefits by stopping at Wendy's on the way out of town and ordering a large Frosty.

New Shelves for Video Equipment
I had some shelves that I bought from Sam's about a year ago that I had not built yet. I decided they were perfect for my video equipment so I spent a rainy day building them and putting my equipment on them in the garage. Now I can back into the garage and load up for an event without getting out in the rain.

Sleep-in Day
I guess Mary and I were worn out. We slept until about 9:30 this morning. We have not done that in years. I guess this retirement thing is wonderful.
I started unpacking all my Rubber Maid tubs and checking all my equipment. I like certain things to be together in my tubs so I had to reorganize most everything that was packed last night. I think I have it in good shape and ready for the next event in Bogalusa, LA on March the 28th for 8 nights.
It looks like we have lost another digital camera. My Olympus SP-560UZ is gone. We hunted high and low. This turns out to be a very expensive trip to Hot Springs.

Missions Conference Winding Down
We started this morning at about 9:00 a.m. in Hot Springs with the Sunday School hour in the Auditorium Bible Class. I really enjoyed Bro. Dennis Blankenship teaching on Faith Promise Giving.
We burned the Sunday School and the morning Worship Service on one DVD. It looked like I had enough space for the evening service so we burned all three services on one DVD. I hurried to the lobby during the invitation and ended up burning 100 DVD's for the folks leaving the service.
After church a bunch of guys loaded my van with all the equipment I had in the balcony and then started hauling out the equipment from my lobby location. Within short order they had me out of there and I don't recall loading anything. Now I'm concerned about how my precious equipment was packed.
We went to I-hop and got back home in Little Rock about midnight. WOW! What a day. WOW! What a week. We have had wonderful experience this week. The church was truly a blessing to Mary and I.

Brake Job for Lee
The brakes have be causing Angela some problems on her Jeep. Lee wanted to do a brake job so Scott and I went up to their house to help do a brake job. We took the rotors to town to get them turned but after turning them they said they were too thin. Lee ended up buying new rotors and pads. With Lee's fancy tools it did not take long and were were done. It was fun working with them to do the brake job. I'm afraid it would not have been fun if I had tried to do the job by myself.

Live Streaming Video In Hot Springs
About 30 minutes before church was to start I noticed that I was having trouble getting onto the internet. I called in the churches IT team and they had me on the internet shortly after the service started at 7:00 p.m. I needed the internet access because we were streaming the video live for the Missions Conference. We were using one laptop to broadcast the video and another laptop broadcasting the audio to Bible Belivers Radio station. We were doing all this while I was burning two master DVD's of the video.

Gospel Light Baptist Church Missions Conference
It was back to Hot Springs tonight for the 2008 Missions Conference. We had two tables full of equipment. I spent nearly two hours glued to my video monitors as I switched between my three cameras. I was having the time of my life. Just enjoying every minute. During the invitation I finalized the DVD and hurried down to the lobby where I duplicated 60 DVD's and had them ready as the people were leaving the service. As my helpers were handing out the DVD's I was busy duplicating 50 more.

Hard, Hot Work Setting Up Equipment
I picked up my brother David about 10:00 a.m. this morning and we drove to Hot Springs. Thank the Lord a bunch of the college boys carried every thing from our van into the church and up to the balcony. David and I spent the rest of the day hooking up all the audio and video equipment. When the service started at 7:00 p.m. I was still hooking up stuff. Everything went well and we had 60 DVD's ready to pass out as people was leaving the auditorium. As we were handing out those DVD's I was duplicating another 60. We gave away about 120 DVD's before we finish the night. I figured we came out very well giving one DVD to a family. There was probably about 800 in attendance.

Loading Up For Trip To Hot Springs
I spent the biggest part of my day packing the van with all our video equipment for our trip to Hot Springs. The poor old van is squatting low with everything loaded.

Signage For Hot Springs
I spent my day designing signs and posters for our trip to Hot Springs on Wednesday. We will have a booth in the main lobby of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Springs where we will sell and give away DVD's.

Mary Out Did Herself with Lunch
WOW! What a spread. Mary reminded me of her mother today. Mary's mother always had a huge meal every Sunday after church. It was great and we all over ate again.

Full Breakfast At Home
All kids and Scott & Lacey spent the night and Mary fixed us a big breakfast this morning. Wow, what a treat. We all really enjoyed the treat.
By this afternoon most of the snow was gone. That's the way we enjoy our snow. It comes. It's beautiful and then it's gone.

More Snow
We woke up to a very beautiful snow covered hill. The grandkids all came to our house to play in the snow and slide down our hill. Scott got his four wheeler out and towed the kids around in the snow on my make-shift sled. They had a ball.

It's Snowing Again
On our way home from Bible College tonight it started snowing on us. The weather man says it going to snow a lot tonight. It's hard to believe after such a nice day today. I did haul in extra firewood this afternoon just in case.

The Snow Left Like It Came - In A Flash
The snow left us about as quick as it came. You really had to look hard to see any trace of snow on the ground this morning.

Sunday Afternoon Four-Wheel'n
Scott and Lacey have two four-wheelers that they leave at our house in the barn. I have never been on them. This afternoon Scott and Lacey talked me into going for a spin in our woods. We had a blast. I loved it. Now I am hooked and I don't have time for this.

Scott & Lacey Return from Disneyworld
We picked up Scott and Lacey at the airport about 11:00 a.m. this morning and took them to Golden Coral for lunch. They had many tales to tell of their experiences at Disneyworld. From the sound of it they really had a blast. Mary and I were wishing we could have gone with them. We will have to sell a lot of DVD's before we can do anything like that. I'm glad they had a good time.
