Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

We Found The Devil In Corpus Christi

We drove by this devil this afternoon here in Corpus Christi. We plan to keep him out of the church.

Our broadcast went great this morning and again tonight for our first services at People's Baptist Church. The folks here have us staying in a very nice brick home. We have it to ourselves so far.

1100 Miles to Corpus Christi, TX

We drove 1100 miles from Goodland, Kansas to Corpus Christi, Texas yesterday and arrived in Corpus Christi a little after midnight this morning. We drove though about 200 miles of snow when we left Goodland. This morning we awoke at the Days Inn In Corpus Christi with palm trees everywhere and 73 plus degree weather. It is nice.

We spent the day setting up our video equipment here at Peoples Baptist Church. We are ready to broadcast in the morning at 10:00 a.m.

Eleven States In Two Weeks

I don't know how we have found time to do anything other than drive. We have traveled in eleven states since we left home a couple weeks ago. Texas makes our eleventh state this afternoon.
visited 11 states (22%)

Packed Up Tonight In A Snow Storm

Our final night of the Prophecy Conference in Goodland, Kansas ended with snow. We had about an inch of snow fall during services. The men of the church helped us pack our equipment. Mary, Patty Rosado, and Mary Middlebrooks all cooked us a super Thanksgiving feast today at Pastor Cliff Middlebrooks home. We had a wonderful time of feasting and fellowship at their home today. It was great.

World's Largest Easel

We visited the World's Largest Easel here in Goodland, Kansas this morning. This is one of six in the world. There were 7 but the one in Japan was destroyed in a bombing run during World War II. The easel is 80 feet tall and has a Sunflower painting by Van Gogh on it. The town of Goodland raised $150K to build the easel out of steel weighing 45,000 pounds.

Welcome to Colorado

We thought we had to drive over to Colorado this morning since we were so close. Goodland, Kansas is 17 miles from the Colorado border. That makes 8 states we have been in during the past few days. We drove throught 7 states (and 3 Time Zones) going from Gaffney, South Carolina to Goodland, Kansas last week-end.

A Sleep-in Day

We were exhusted from the past few days and slept in this morning. We feel much better.

I think Bro. August Rosado was at his best tonight. I really enjoyed the prophecy message tonight. I hope to have it uploaded to SteveBrownMinistries.com before I go to sleep tonight. I think it's worth listening to again.

Our First Day of Broadcast in Goodland, Kansas

I think we did a good job today with the broadcast. At least as good as I know how to do it. We had great services. When we left Gaffney, South Carolina last Friday morning I was doubtful that we would be ready for both services today, but the Lord saw us through and we made it just fine. I am pleased with the DVD that we produced today.

Arrived Safe In Goodland, Kansas

We completed our journey to Goodland, Kansas this afternoon about 3:00 p.m. I spent the rest of the day setting up our equipment at Bible Baptist Church. Some of the men from the church met us there and helped greatly in unloading our van. I worked until about 10:30 p.m. wiring and tweaking things. I think I am ready for the Sunday morning service.

Our Thousand Mile Journey

We left Gaffney, South Carolina about 7:00 a.m. EST and it was not long until we encountered snow in the Great Smoky Mountains.

I don't understand why Mary was complaining about not being about to see the road.

It was a beautiful drive. In some places there was about an inch of snow on the ground. We loved it.

Close to sundown we drove by the "Gateway to the West".

About the time we thought we had it made getting through St. Louis we encountered the five o'clock rush-hour traffic leaving St. Louis.

We arrived at Robby, Rachel, Sophie, and Mady's house about 9:00 p.m. CST to spent the night. This is Mady.

Sophie is trying to get my camera.

This is a shot of Robby and Rachel's new home. They moved in last Saturday. It is located in Olathe, Kansas.

Final Night of King James Bible Conference

Tonight brings us to the close of another meeting. I really enjoyed Dr. Greg Little preaching the King James Bible Conference. I have the whole series on SteveBrownMinistries.com ready for viewing.

After church the men helped us pack and load our equipment. We are ready to hit the road again in the morning. We have enjoyed our time in Gaffney, South Carolina.

The Bath Room Light Switch

Posted by Picasa
I found the light switch for the men's bathroom to be very intriguing here at Victory Baptist Church in Gaffney, South Carolina. The light switch is behind the door so some smart person rigged up a way to turn it on and off by sticking your finger through the crack in the door.

Liver Mush At Mr. Waffle

The preacher took us out to Mr. Waffle the past couple nights for supper after church. Tonight I tried "Liver Mush" with eggs and hash browns. It was surprisingly good, but I still prefer sausage with my eggs. I have never heard of "Liver Mush" until we came to South Carolina. I figured I had to try it while I'm here because we'll not find it anywhere else.

A Day of Tweaking The Equipment

I spent my day over in the church tweaking our equipment. I had a few problems last night so I practiced today making the transistion to and from Double Boxes Screens. I am finding that it is very difficult to get it right the first time during a live broadcast. I can figure it out if I have time, but when you're broadcasting live you only get one shot. If you don't get it right, then it considered a mistake and forever recorded on the DVD's that you give out after services.

Power Point and TriCaster Studio

My big challenge today was interfacing a Power Point presentation with the Live Video. The TriCaster Studio made this a easy task. I installed a little program on the preachers laptop so the TriCaster could connect through WiFi to his laptop. Then I has able to use a double box setup where the preacher was in a small box on the screen and the power point slide was in a larger box side by side. I stayed up tonight and watched the entire DVD to check my work. I thought it look very good for a beginner. I think the preacher will love it. We had a great day at Victory Baptist Church in Gaffney, South Carolina.

A Long Day of Setting Up Equipment

I started this morning about 9:00 a.m. setting up and wiring equipment. I took a break at lunch and supper with Mary. Other than that I worked the entire day. I finished tweaking stuff about midnight. I really think I am ready to broadcast the service in the morning.

A Beautiful Drive Through The Smokey's

We drove from Nashville, Tennessee to Gaffney, South Carolina today. The drive through the Smokey Mountains was prettier than it was last month. We were shocked at the beautiful trees in the middle of November.

I unloaded all the equipment into the church here at Victory Baptist. I have really made a mess out of their church. I'll finish setting up tomorrow and tidy things up before services Sunday.

A Hard Time Getting Out of Town

In my haste to meet Scott and Lacey for lunch I did not go through my checklist of video equipment. After lunch in North Little Rock I decided I better look at the checklist and sure enough I had forgotten our Linksys Router and Sprint Data Card. We turned around at Lonoke and went back home to get it. We finally got out of town about 2:00 p.m.

We made it to Dickson, Tennessee and spent the night at the Super 8.

Packed and Ready

I spent the afternoon loading our gear into the KIA. I think I am about 95% packed and ready. Somehow I have still got to get Mary's clothes in there. I'll wait until morning to do that. We plan to spend the night somewhere in Tennessee tomorrow night.

Getting Ready for Three Weeks On The Road

I spent the day trying to get things ready for our next road trip. We've got about 3000 miles facing us in the next three weeks. South Carolina to Kansas to Texas. I am sure we'll be ready for a Christmas break after this trip.

Chroma Key

Chroma key is a technique for mixing two images together, in which a color from one image is removed (or made transparent), revealing another image behind it. This is how the weather person can stand in front of the weather map. The area around the weather person is made transparent so you can see the weather map behind them.

That is what I learned how to do today with our new TriCaster Studio. It's a very neat trick. I hope to use it down the road somewhere in our video ministry.

To Much To Eat - Again

I went over to the fellowship hall to eat after I finished uploading the evening service to the church website. Mary had me a plate fixed that was piled high with taco salad, a piece of cake and 3 cookies on another plate. We had a big lunch so I was not that hungry. Scott finised up my taco salad for me. Then a lady came by and put a big scoop of ice cream on my cake. I am way too full but it was very good.

I Got To Run The Sound Board At Church

They had a wedding at Church this afternoon and all the normal sound folks were tied up doing things like deer hunting, etc. So I got to run the sound system for the wedding. Since I worked all summer installing it you would think that I would get to run it once in a while. Today was my time. Things went very well and I enjoyed the wedding.

Supper With Scott & Lacey

Tonight we went to a Japanese Steakhouse with Scott and Lacey. Great food and fellowship. We enjoyed our evening with them. This is the first time I have been in the Honda Fit in nearly three weeks.

Home At Last

We started our day packing and loading equipment and clothes. We got away from Seminary, Mississippi about 2:30 this afternoon. We are currently coming into Little Rock at 8:50 p.m. We hope to be home in a few minutes.

Missionary to Sudan

We had a special treat tonight at church. Bro. Dennis Blankenship came by and made a very nice Missionary Presentation about Sudan. Bro. Truesdell then preached another fantastic message. They even let Mary sing 3 songs tonight. It was a great night to be in the House of the Lord. The men stayed and loaded all my heavy stuff. We go back tomorrow and finish packing and loading. Our time in Seminary, Mississippi has come to an end again. We're going to miss this little cabin by the Okatoma River.

Urban Renewal

Dr. Dexter Truesdell really preached a classic message tonight. I sure wish every church in America could hear this message. God sure spoke to many hearts here tonight. I hope I don't forget this message, "Urban Renewal", for a long time.

Our Itinerary Is Filling Up For 2009

We have had several requests for meetings in 2009 these past few days. Our itinerary is really filling up for next year. We love it, but some of these meetings will be very difficult because they are so far apart and back to back. We'll be running the wheels off the little KIA next year. Please pray with us that the Lord will open the door for new vehicle soon. We think we want a motor home but I remember very well that they are expensive to maintain and operate. We left Sprint/Embarq trusting the Lord and we will continue trusting the Lord to take care of our needs.

A Great Day with Dr. Rene' Freret

We had a great day at Lebanon Baptist Church. Our friend, Dr. Rene' Freret, with the BEAMS ministry in Gulfport, Mississippi preached both services today. One yound lady received Christ as her Saviour this morning. The church was rejoicing over her Salvation. The broadcast went well and the DVD turned out pretty well. I keep learning a little more about the TriCaster Studio at each service.

Setup at Lebanon Baptist Church

We got to bed early this morning about 1:30 a.m. so we slept in this morning. We got to Lebanon Baptist Church about noon to start setting up. We took a break about 5:30 p.m. to go eat in Collins, Mississippi then it was back to work at the churc. I did not get back to the cabin until about 10:00 p.m. I think I am ready to broadcast the Sunday morning services in the morning.
