Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Food Preparation

Mary and I spent the evening shopping for groceries and then preparaing salad stuff for the rest of the week. Between eating and preparaing food we did not have much time left.

We did catch up on the First Family Church service for last Sunday while we were eating our salad and baked potato. I thought their service was top notch.

Late Night Trip To Kansas City

Since my boss wants us all in the the office tomorrow for a 2 hour meeting I decided that I have to drive back to Kansas City tonight. Mary and I left after church about 7:15 p.m. and finally got to bed just before 2:00 a.m. My eyes were really getting heavy before we got home.

Lots of Yard Work

The yard was really looking ragged after all the rain these past few days. I started mowing about 8:00 a.m. this morning and sent Mary after more gasoline. When she go back I was about 1/3 done. While I was taking a juice break Scott showed up and took over. He mowed the rest of the yard while I got the tractor out and did some other much needed cleanup. We spent most of the day outside cleaning and mowing.

Health-O-Meter Scales

Health-O-Meter 402KLMary and I have put up with all kinds of scales through the years and none of them ever seemed to be very accurate. You could never keep them zero'd.

We brought what we thought were very good scales at Sam's a number of years ago but after weighting myself 5 or 6 times and they were all different I decided it was time to get some new scales.

I googled until I found the Health-O-Meter 402KL for $109.00 including shipping. Wow! We love it. Just like at the doctors office. Now I can gain up to 500 pounds.

Good To Be Home

I made it home to Little Rock tonight about 9:30 p.m. from Kansas City. The trip is certainly no shorter but the time passes much better when I have some good preaching CD's to listen to. I had three messages from Pastor Jerry Johnston at First Family Church about Spiritual Armor. They were really good. I have listened to most of that series two or three times.

24 Hours Without Coffee

I am not suppose to have coffee on this diet I'm on but I have been hedging on giving it up. I have been meaning to do a google search on the "hazards of coffee". I finally got around to doing that yesterday morning and took one last sip and quit. This morning at about 9:00 a.m. it has been 24 hours. I'm pretty sure I am having withdrawals. I miss my coffee.

Grocery Shopping

I spent a big part of my evening buying groceries. I went to Wild Oats and could not find everything I wanted so I had to go to Price Chopper. Lo and behold I found the same organic lettuce at Price Chopper that I brought at Wild Oats. I think next week I'll buy everything at Price Chopper.

Fixed Our Green Power Juicer

I finally got the $2 bushing in the mail that I needed to fix our power juicer. Mary washed and cut the ends off the carrots and beets while I fed them into the juicer. We made 120 oz. of juice in about 30 minutes. Great stuff! Now we have enough for both of us to last up through Wednesday. Then we'll be back to visiting Wild Oats or making juice from Carrot Max and Beet Max. We each drink 10 oz. of juice about mid-morning and again about mid-afternoon. I am down to 188 lbs. this morning on the Hallelujah Diet.

First Broadcast With Camera In The Audience

I had worked for fourteen hours yesterday getting things all ready but I still did not have a camera operator. I prayed on the way to church and ask the Lord to send me just the right person to run the camera. About fifteen minutes before services started I found just the right guy. James Eckman worked out perfectly. I really enjoyed working with him.

Fourteen Hour Day At Church

I have been planning for a few weeks to move one of our video camera downstairs to the audience level. I thought I had all the cables and parts I needed to do the job. I had ordered stuff from all over the country to do this job. I still ended up making three trips to town to get additional things I needs. Somewhere about 9:30 p.m. I finished the job. The camera worked and the comm set I build from scratch worked. The comm set is so I can talk to camera #2 operator with a headset. Interesting plans for this at Telephone Intercom.

New Linksys Router

A few weeks ago I started having many problems with my KR1 Kyocera router. After many calls to support folks I gave up and ordered a Linksys router. The KR1 works fine for normal web work, but when I tried to connnect to the VPN network at Sprint for my job it just would not work. The Linksys works fine with VPN.

Complicated Problem At Work

I've been working on a bad problem at work (Embarq) for some time now. Today I think I finally am about to get my arms around the problem. Maybe, just maybe, I'll fix this thing after all.

No Church Tonight

I tried to tune in the Crystal Hill Broadcast tonight but there was nothing. I called Lee at 7:00 p.m. and woke him up at home. He over slept.

I tried to listen to First Family Church and they had it blacked out. I wish I had driven over there. They had a famous singer and a great message. I missed it all.

Seven Hours Driving Past Quickly

On the way back to Kansas City this evening the time went by pretty quickly. I listened to preaching CD's for the whole 7 hours. Before I knew it I have back in Kansas City.

70 Degrees In Arkansas

As I sit here writting this my outdoor thermoneter shows it to be 70 degrees outside. There are no cars, trucks, trains or planes and the birds are singing so pretty. It's such a beautiful day to be in Arkansas. I hate to have to drive back to Kansas City this evening.

Broadcast Disappointment

I was really disappointed today with the broadcast from church. Nobody tuned in to view it. I guess I need to spend more time in prayer about this. I just know there are lots of people out there somewhere around the world that would enjoy our live broadcast.

The FireHouse Dog

We enjoyed a great afternoon with two of the grandkids. We made our trip to Wild Oats for carrot juice and Bradley actually enjoyed his first carrot juice. We then went to see "The FireHouse Dog". We throughly enjoyed the movie and recommend it.

Wild Oats Salad On The Road

This evening I stopped at Wild Oats in Kansas City on my way out of town and fixed a salad while they were juicing my carrots. So about 6:00 p.m. and hundred or so miles down the road I enjoyed a fresh organic salad. This is health food at it's best.

Cold April Walk Today

Andy, Chris and I made our walk around the Sprint Campus today. I only had a light jacket and I got cold. I hope I don't get sick. I carried my GPS today because our route was a little different than our normal mile and a half walk. My GPS tripped over to 2 miles as we approached the door to go into our building.

Making CD of John Hagee

I enjoyed the service so much last Wednesday night with John Hagee I decided to listen to it again on the ffc.org website and record it using Audicity. I then made several CD's for friends in Little Rock.

Health Food On The Road

I stopped at Wild Oats on the way out of town this evening and got my fresh carrot juice and an organic salad. I ate on it for about an hour as I drove back to Kansas City. Good stuff.

Easter Sunday

My laptop is still acting up. I formatted the hard drive and reload all the IBM CD's last night. This morning I was frantic to load all the drivers and Window Media Encoder so we could do the broadcast at church. I barely got it all done before the first service started at 8:30 a.m. Things went smoothly after that and we had a packed house for both services. It has been a great Easter. The preacher was at his very best today. I really enjoyed the message.

Installed New Pelican PC600 Water Filter

Today Scott helped me install our new water filter. I had to use a lot of water to backwash the filter to get the charcoal clean. We installed the filter in the basement where the city water comes into the house. So far I'm very happy with the filter.

New Pelican PC600 Water Filter

After a couple weeks research for a whole house water filter this website settled it for me. www.comparehomewaterfilters.com

We received our new Pelican Water Filter today from WaterFilter-USA. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. Maybe Scott will help me install it tomorrow.

Back To Arkansas

Tonight after work I drove back to Little Rock. I now have over 26,000 miles on my little Honda Fit. These have been trouble free miles. I really like my little Honda.

John Hagee in Overland Park

Tonight I went to First Family Church for the first time to hear John Hagee preach. I really enjoyed my two hours there. I studied their live streaming setup very carefully.

New Health Kick

After reading the Hallelujah Diet a few years ago I have been conscious of eating more raw vegetables and have tried to do so. Now Mary and I are reading the "The Seven Pillars of Health" by Dr. Colbert. We are now on pillar #3 about Living Foods. So far we have started drinking only Mountain Valley Spring Water and I have a whole house water filter to install this coming weekend. Our changes about water come from reading pillar #1.

After reading pillar #2 we are trying to get more sleep.

Pillar #3 seems to be the hardest so far. After Mary I viewed some of the testimonies on Hallelujah Acres we are trying harder to follow the Hallelujah Diet. We are both overweight and Mary is Diabetic. Thousands of people have been cured of these problems and many more from following the Hallelujah Diet.

Back to Work

Today I worked from home in Little Rock. My Sprint DataCard is serving me well.

This evening I drove back to Kansas City and arrived at my apartment about 10:00 p.m.

Great Service - Great Broadcast

Our broadcast went off without a hitch this morning and tonight. I had several folks give me good positive feedback about our archived videos on our website and the Live Streaming video feed. I am encouraged.

Mary sang "It Is Finished" as a solo this morning for both services. She did a great job. The people seemed to really enjoy her singing.
