Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Shooting More Video

I took one video camera and some audio equipment to church and shoot a 90 second video of our music director to be used in the church Welcome DVD I am making. The preacher was not available so I have to go back and shoot him when he is ready.

Editing Video

I spent the first half day searching the internet for the best prices for things I needs for the business. The last half of the day and up into the night was spent editing the 4 hours of video from the BEAMS Warehouse Dedication last Saturday.

Celebration Feast

Tonight at Crystal Hill Baptist Church we had a huge Celebration Feast to celebrate the completion of our new church building. I shot a lot of video today to help make a DVD that we will use to hand out to folks in our comunity to introduce them to our church. That will be a fun project but a lot of hours of work on my part.

Downloading Video

I spent a big part of my day downloading the 4 hours of video from DV Tape using Firewire into my computer. Now I need lots of hours to edit all the video and still shots into a DVD. This may take days.

BEAMS Warehouse Dedication

We had a great time at the BEAMS wearhouse dedication. There was a big crowd of folks who attended the celabration. My brother and I shot a lot of video. Now I'll have to spend a LOT of hours editing and making a DVD of the event. I hope to have the DVD available sometime next week.

Travel Day to Gulfport, Mississippi

My brother David invited me to go along with him and Bro. C. F. Edwards (our pastor many years ago) to Gulfport, Mississippi. The BEAMS Ministry was dedicating a new warehouse to the Glory of God. I decided to go along. We spent the day driving to Gulfport. The BEAMS folks gave us a room for the night.

Mary and I sat down front at church tonight. Bro. Larry preached a fantastic message. God used him to stir my heart to do more for the Lord.

A Long Day At The Computer

A Slow Day For Me

It seems like I did not get much done today. I spent the afternoon tweaking things in the sound room at church.

Mary and I watched more of the Pastor and Workers conference at North Valley Baptist Church in Santa Clara, CA. We really enjoy watching their streaming videos. We hardly ever miss watching their regular services.

Our First Sunday Service In New Building

Today was Mary and I's first Sunday Service in the New Building at Crystal Hill Baptist Church. I sat with Mary, Scott, Lacey, Bradley, and Ashley for the preaching service. The new sound system was great. Bro. Larry Ballard was at his best this morning. The Lord used him greatly.

Bush-hogged The Yard

After three weeks on the road and another week of trying to catch up on things I had to bush-hog the yard this afternoon.

The gang all came to our house this afternoon to celebrate Ashley's Tenth Birthday.

Crawling Under the Stage

I can't believe it. I had to crawl under the new stage at church today on my belly to pull in more CAT5 cables from the Sound Room to the Equipment Room in the rear of the church. We need to hook up the baptisry light so we can control it remotely in the sound room when we lower the screen.

More CD Masters

Lee and I spent the day making CD's. We are nearly caught up but still not finished with one music CD.

Mary and I got to attend our first service in the new building at Crytal Hill Baptist Church tonight. I sat with Mary near the front. Our new sound system sounded great until the battery went dead in the preachers lapel microphone.

Making CD Masters

We have quite a few requests for CD's of our recent meetings. Lee came to our house early this morning and we started playing the DVD's in real time while he captured the audio in Audition and burned CD Masters. I printed labels and copied the CD's. I was able to ship a few in the afternoon mail.

Pack Up and Travel

Last night was our last night here in Searcy, Arkansas with Landmark Baptist Church. We have throughly enjoyed ourselves here with great preaching, singing and food. This morning we had lots of help to help us pack up. After 22 days on the road we finally got to sleep in our own bed again. It's been a great three weeks on the road and we've made many new friends along the way.

The Hannahs in Concert

The Hannahs Quartet are members here at Landmark Baptist Church in Searcy. They scheduled a special concert this afternoon so I could produce a DVD. We sold about 70 copies of the DVD. I think we did pretty good. Mary did her best work running the audio mixer. I was pleased with the audio and the video. We are staying with the bass singer(Dewayne) and his wife Wanda. They are great people. We love them very much.

Format the Harddrive and Start Over

After calls to Alltel and IBM tech support I bit the bullet and reloaded my new Thinkpad. This puts me back to where I took it out of the box 6 weeks ago. We did everything again with Mary's computer tonight.

Problems with Alltel Data Card

This is our first meeting to use an Alltel Data Card for the broadcast. The card works fine in Mary's computer but in my new Thinkpad it seems to have conflict with my Sprint Data Card. My Thinkpad is about useless tonight. We did everything with Mary's HP Laptop.

Last Night at Lebanon Baptist Church

We had a most wonderful last night of revival here at Lebanon Baptist Church in Seminary, Mississippi. Mary sang a beautiful solo and they even let me sing a duet with Mary tonight. The singing and preacher were great. We have enjoyed our time here in Seminary. The men helped up pack and we are ready to hit the road again in the morning.

A Walk In The Woods

Since I have not gone for a walk in, I cannot remember when, I decided it was time. I started out from the cabin in the woods where were are staying here in Seminary, Mississippi and walked about a mile and a half on the log roads around the cabin area. I saw deer and turkey while walking. I really enjoyed the peace and solitude in the woods today. Thank your Lord for your great creation.

Calvary's Harmony Quartet

Tonight I was getting everything setup to broadcast the service here in Semninary, Mississippi when a bunch of young men came in and said they were singing tonight. They had their own sound equipment. I had to scurry to get my equipment hooked into their sound system so I could have good audio for the broadcast and the DVD. Things came together well and their singing was a real blessing. We had a great night at Lebanon Baptist Church.

Setup At Lebanon Baptist Church

We spent the day setting up at Lebanon Baptist Church here in Seminary, Mississippi. They just finished remodling the little country church. It is small but very nice. They have homecoming tomorrow with lots of food after church. The Happiness Hill Girls Home will be singing in the morning. That will be a very special treat. I think I am ready to broadcast everything on the internet at SteveBrownMinistries.com.

Long Drive To Seminary, Mississippi

We left out of Moravian Falls, North Carolina this morning about 8:00 a.m. and got to our little cabin in the woods in Seminary, Mississippi about 8:00 p.m. tonight. It has been a very long day of driving.

Our little cabin is very nice. It belongs to one of the church members. The river is right at our back steps. The rapids are very swift and loud. It is a great kayaking river they say. The cabin is up on stilks about 10 feet off the ground. We love it and we're not having to pay the normal $125 dollars a day. They are letting us stay for free. Praise the Lord for his great blessings.

A Great Second Day of Campmeeting

They are feeding us well at the campmeeting. They feed us Breakfast, Lunch and Supper. They have a very nice dinning facility that they just finished building and this is the first year to have a dinning facility with a nice kitchen.

We had 94 hits on our broadcast today with 41.1 hours of viewing time from those hits.
