Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Grave Hop Dinner

This evening we met with a few geocaching friends at Ruby Tuesday’s in North Kansas City and enjoyed a nice meal together. After telling a few caching stories the ladies settled down to business. The job tonight was to get the Grave Hop Coin project off and running. They plan to offer a special minted coin for everyone who attends the Grave Hop event that’s coming up in October of this year. They decided to also give a special button to those who attend. We had so much fun that we didn’t get home until nearly 9:00 p.m.

Hardest Day of My Life in Many Years

Today we met with my sister and brothers at my daddy and mother’s house to finish dividing up their personal property between us. We finished up that exercise about 1:30 p.m. and then started building a new fence between the property I inherit and the property Delton inherits. With lots of help we ended up building 1300 feet of fence with 4 strands of barbed wire before dark. We’ll have to go back later and add two more strands of barbed wire. I am so tired tonight that Lee gave me a muscle relaxer to help me sleep.

Bothwell Lodge

Today we headed to Arkansas. We decided to take I-70 over to Hwy 65 and then south so we could get the two new caches at Bothwell Lodge just north of Sedalia, Missouri. This did not work out too well because I could not find one of the caches. That means this is the only cache within 100 miles of my recliner that we have not found. We’ll have to try again soon.

Yesteryear at Carrollton, Missouri

This evening after work we took off for Carrollton, Missouri. Nice evening and nothing to do so this cache looked like just the thing to keep us out of the recliner and watching TV. The Yesteryear cache was on the grounds of the Carrollton Museum. We now have no unfound caches in our hundred mile circle.

Crusty Gizzard Brains

This evening after work we went to Leavenworth, Kansas to hunt the Cheesey Chicken Brains Cache. This was a new area of Leavenworth that we had not been to before. It was an interesting area where motorcycles and four wheelers go. It took a while to hunt down the cache but we found it. Inside the cache I had to use the riddle to come up with a new name for myself. The results was Crusty Gizzard Brains.

Kill Creek Orienteering

Finally the big day has arrived. I've been preparing for this event since January. Jim Shilt brought a big Xerox color laser printer to the shelter to print the maps. We had three laptop computers at the registration table and Jim had one at the Start/Finish line. Brian and Carlin did a great job of registering people and print maps. We had way over a hundred people. I felt the day was a huge success.
