I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Caching in Hiawatha

Today after getting off work early we headed to Hiawatha, Kansas to grab a cache. Dr. GPS keeps putting out a cache every month or two in Hiawatha. We also found the Carnegie Library in Kansas City and claimed it as a locationless cache. We found the Quindaro Underground Railroad and claimed it as a locationless cache. We enjoyed this location and decided that it needed to be a cache site so we put out a new cache here.

Wetland Delineation

Today I had the privilege of going out with Bill Richardson. He is a Wetland Delineator first class. We had a 40 acre track to delineate. One of the best parts of the day was riding his four wheelers to the area. The following photos show Bill and activities to set the boundary between the upland and the wetland. I would love to be a Wetland Delineator, but I guess I've waited too many years to start now.

This evening we headed south for a few caches. We located a couple nice ones in Belton, Missouri then we headed to Harrisonville. On the way to a new cache we discovered this beautiful ladder truck which we logged as a retired fire truck.
We're not sure what to call this but I'm sure it was used to fight fire. It was located close to the ladder truck.

We drove over 150 miles to find a cache between Knob Noster and Sedalia, Missour today. We spent over an hour searching every hiding place in a roadside park and did not find the cache. Good Food, Great Friends and a Great Cache

Here's a few pictures I took of our night caching trip to the "Lost Cabin Night Cache". We rode to Lawerence, Kansas with Brian and Carlin where we met Dana and Russ. We first enjoyed a great meal together in downtown Lawerence..
I wish I could remember the story Russ was telling here.

Bored - Went Caching

By noon today we were bored so we decided to go after a cache or two. Once we got to the north end of town we figured we were halfway to St. Joe so we went after a cache there. Then it was off to Troy and Hiawatha. After that we headed south to Topeka. When we were done we had cleaned up all the caches in our 100 mile circle except for a night cache in Lawrence that we are saving for next week-end with Brian and Carlin.

We encountered this sculpture of an American Indian at Troy, Kansas as part of a multi-cache. The sculpture is about 30 feet tall by Peter Toth. It is located on the courthouse square in Troy.

Geocaching Woke Me Up This Morning

I've not been feeling very good lately so I decided to sleep-in this morning. I was awaken by my cell phone beeping at me. Glenn in St. Louis was releasing caches. I get a message and a beep for every cache that is released within 50 miles of our home coordinates. There were 5 new caches released this morning. Mary and I headed out to get them. We had a hard time finding any of them. Our friends Dana & Russ arrived on the scene and saved the day for us.

Completed the Missouri Delorme Challenge

My Rescuers

This morning the very first cache was a hard one. I had to climb a mountain in Markham Springs State Park. Somewhere up the mountain I lost the trail and had to bush whack to the cache. It was a hard climb. After a couple easy caches I had a real doozy. The Perfect Hillbilly Hideout cache turned out to be quite the adventure. Here's my log message I posted to claim the cache:

This was some more wild adventure. Everything started off pretty good, but I knew this could go arey because I read the first paragraph of the description at the parking lot and realized that I did not have access to the internet and I might not be able to complete this cache. I needed this cache very badly to complete the Missouri Delorme Challenge. We had driven over a 1000 miles to finish this challenge and this was the only cache on the south end of section #55 and I was not sure I would have any better luck with the other caches in section #55 so decided I had to try this cache.
The trip to the overlook and down into the canyon went very well and I took lots of pictures. I really enjoyed this part of the adventure.

The problem started when I got to the cave and there were no rocks to count. I finally figured all the possible coordinates and decided to try one of them. It seemed to fit better than the rest. All of the possible coordinates were over 3/4 miles away. I bush whacked all the way to the choosen waypoint and got lucky. It was the correct waypoint. What a relief. At this point I had figured a better way to meet back up with Mary so I called her. Her phone would not work. I took off walking and happened up on some ladies on four wheelers. They felt sorry for me and gave me a lift back to civilation and to Mary. These ladies saved me several miles of walking and a lot of daylight that I needed desperatly to finish the Missouri Delorme Challege today.

Oh, I did put some rocks back at the cave entrance, but as it turns out they are not in the correct piles to give you a good coordinates.

Thanks for a great adventure. The cache is great and in good condition. TNLN

Started the Missouri Delorme Challenge

This afternoon we headed to Hannibal, Missouri do some serious geocaching. We're accepting the challenge by Brian and Carlin Yonke to find at least one cache in every one of the 58 Delorme Sections listed in their Missouri Gazateer map book. As we start the challenge we still lack 19 of the sections and they are all on the eastern side of the state. We're spending the night in Hannibal tonight and we still have not found our first cache that counts toward one of the 19 sections.
