Steve's Blog
I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.
About Me
On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

We all enjoyed the early morning service from Crystall Hill Baptist Church on our TV in the Comfort Inn. I figured out how to patch my laptop into the motel TV and the sound into my little portable speaker system. It was great. Almost like being there with the home folks.

Silver Dollar City
Since we all had season passes to Silver Dollar City it seemed like the cheapest enterainment so we spent the day there. We even stayed for the late night show in Echo Hollow. The Echo Hollow show was much shorter than years gone by but was still very nice. We all enjoyed our day at Silver Dollar City.

Branson Bound
This evening we took off for Branson to meet Scott and Lacey. It was very nice to have a suite at the Comfort Inn with two bedrooms where could all be together.

Embarq Application Support
This morning I reported to my office in Kansas City. I had to start my week of primary support for the applications that our group of developers support. After a week of being absent it was good to have some face time with my peers.

The Cat Did Not Want Us To Leave
When we were ready to leave this evening and head to Kansas City we could not find the cat. Since it is Mary's cat I let her tend to him. When she gave up I got the flashlight and started looking. I found the cat hiding under our bed. Somehow that cat sensed that we were about to leave and hid from us. I poked him out with a broom and Mary caught him on the other side of the bed.

Nice To Work From Home Today
No travel. Just a beautiful day to work from home in Little Rock. I was able to complete another module of C code today and turn it over to our client for testing.
After work I was able to mow the front lawn. That was much better than having to drive back to Kansas City.

WOW! What A Feed!
This afternoon after church we went up to Lee and Angela's for Sunday lunch. I guess this would be what I call Sunday dinner. The ladies just out did themselves today. We had wonderful slow cooked roast beef with ALL the trimming. I ate until I hurt. I did not eat a bite of food the rest of the day.

Football and A Birthday Party
This morning I got to go see my oldest grandson play football. It is hard to believe that Bradley is old enough to play football. It was a great game and Bradley's team actually won. This afternoon we went to Cabot, Arkansas to Funtastic for Ashley's 9th birthday party. I ate pizza and birthday cake until I thought I was going to pop. We all had a good time.

Finally A No Travel Day
I finally get to have a peaceful day to work at home without having to travel to Kansas City or to Little Rock.
It was nice to just listen to internet radio on the Rejoice Broadcast Network this evening.

Four Days & Four Trips Between LR & KC
I can not believe it. This evening completed my fourth trip between Little Rock and Kansas City in four days. I sure hope I don't have to make it 5 in 5.

New Record - 3 Trips To Kansas City In One Week
Monday I traveled to Kansas City. Tuesday I traveled to Little Rock. This evening I got to travel back to Kansas City. I think that's enough travel for one month. I quit. I had to come back to Kansas City because I have support for my Embarq Application starting in the morning for the next two weeks. My boss said she wants me in Kansas City when I have support.

Three Miles With Agape Love
Okay. Let me explain. Today I walked 3.1 miles around the Sprint campus. While I was walking I was listening to an MP3 of one of the greatest messages ever by Attorney David Gibbs Jr. called "Agape Love". Oh, how I need (and want) to apply this message to my heart and life.
This afternoon my boss told me I could work from home and come to Kansas City whenever she needed me or when I have support. I was so excited that I took off to Little Rock. About midnight when I was laying my tired weary head down on my pillow, Mary asked, "When do you have support next?". I told her it was September 20th. She said, "Well, that's day after tomorrow". I thought, Oh no, I have messed up again. I told her I don't want to think about that right now and tried to go to sleep. Tomorrow I get to drive back to Kansas City.

Missed Mary On The Trip To Kansas City
I made my way back to Kansas City this evening without Mary. This is the first time since I started having problems with my kidney stone that she did not come back with me. Lee is trying teach a class on HVAC this week and needed Mary's help with the kids.

Lunch With Everette and Grace
Mary fixed lunch and took it up to Lee and Angela's house. Mary's brother, Everette and his wife, Grace were there with us and Scott and Lacey. Thank you Mary for a great lunch.

Ashley's Soccer Game
We went to East End, Arkansas to see Ashley play soccer today. I took my laptop, video camera, and a lot of stuff so I could video the game. The first quarter was over before I got all my gear hooked up. I tried to video as much as I could and encoded it on my laptop using Window Media Encoder. I guess it turned out okay for an amateur. We enjoyed watching her play.

Western Sizzlin In Benton
I spent the day in my chair with my work computer. Mary got me out of my chair to go eat at Western Sizzlin in Benton, Arkansas this evening. When I came back home it was back in my chair with my laptop. I know my heart needs a break. I must get back to walking before my heart gives up on me.

Late Night Trip With Two Vehicles
Lee ask Mary to take care of the kids for him next week so Mary had to take her KIA mini-van back to Little Rock and since I need to come back to Kansas City on Monday it required that we drive both vehicles to Little Rock tonight. We hurried as fast as we dared and it was still about 11:30 p.m. when we arrived at home. We are tired needless to say.

Radio Shack Video Switch
This evening I brought a Radio Shack A/V switch just so I could tear it up. Well, maybe not. I tore it apart and took some voltage readings on the LED's with the hopes that I might be able to extend the LED's some 60-80 feet so my remote camera operators can see when their camera is "Live" on the broadcast at church.

Never Forget September 11, 2001
Embarq gave me a little pin that says, "Never Forget September 11, 2001. I wore it all day today. I'll never forget the panic on Mary's face when she ran into the bathroom where I was brushing my teeth and said, "Hurry! hurry! Come quick and see where a plane has hit the World Trade Center". It was hard to imagine. Especially after the second plane crashed into the other tower. Not long before that, Mary and I had eaten supper on the top floor of the World Trade Center. We were stunned.

40,000 Mile Checkup On My Little Honda
Mary took my little Honda in to the dealer this morning for it's 40,000 mile routine maintenance. It cost over $400 to get everything done. They said my little doodle was in great shape. It seems almost impossible that I have put 40,000 on it since June 2006. Almost all of it was going back and forth from Kansas City to Little Rock. I hope someday to get out of this rat race.

Director
This afternoon I rewired my video console so someone could run camera number 1 and leave me free to monitor the encoding of the broadcast and direct the camera operators. I now have two camera operators for the two cameras and I switch between them and tell the cameramen via headsets what I want them to aim their camera at. For the most part it was successful. I thought we did pretty good for amateurs.

Dean Miller's Life Story
For the past year I would guess that I have averaged listening to 3-5 sermons per day. For the first time ever, today I listened to the life story of Dean Miller. This will have to be one of my all time favorite sermons. I would like to invite you to listen to this MP3 of his life's story. I truly believe it will be worth your time.

Brown's Country Store & Restaurant
This evening we were looking for something special to do. Seems like the best thing we could come up with was our cousin Wayne Brown's Country Store & Restaurant. We enjoyed way too much food from their buffet.

Read Through The Bible In 30 Days
This evening as we drove to Little Rock we were listening to some of the sermons by Attorney David Gibbs Jr. when we hit upon "Wise Counsel From An Enemy". He made it sound so easy to read through the Bible in one month. Even his 12 year son started reading through the Bible in one month and has done so for years.
I really want my faith to grow in the God of this universe. I was reminded of "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17 I must spend more time in His word. The most important book in all the world and the most neglected.

A Faithful Under-Rower
Today I listened to 4 messages from God's men. I think I enjoyed the message, "A Faithful Under-Rower" by CLA attorney David Gibbs, the best. I really enjoy his preaching.

LuLu's Thai Noodle Shop For Supper
Tonight Robby and Rachel met us at LuLu's Thai Noodle Shop for supper. We had never been there before so it was a treat for us. We really enjoyed the food. Mary ended up with something that was a little spicy for her and she ended up eating my supper and I had hers. Both halves of the meal were great with me. We enjoyed our time with Robby and Rachel.

Early Supper With Scott & Lacey
While we drove back to Kansas City, Scott and Lacey were driving back to Little Rock from Kansas City. They spent the past three days in Kansas City using our little apartment while we were away. We met them in Fayetteville at Ruby Tuesday's for an early supper about 4:00 p.m. Great visit and then they went south and we went north.

Lunch With Lee and Angela
It was very nice to have lunch at Lee and Angela's house this afternoon. After lunch we played Mexican Dominoes. Seems like it has been years since I played a game of dominoes. We really enjoyed ourselves.
