Steve's Blog

I try to use this blog to record something about my life everyday.

My Photo
Name: Steve Brown
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, United States

On December 31, 2007 I left my job with Sprint/Embarq where I worked as a Software Engineer for 15 years at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. In January 2008 Mary and I started Steve Brown Ministries and started traveling the United States broadcasting "Live Video" of Revivals, Bible Conferences, Mission Conferences, and other Special Services. Mary and I enjoy serving the Lord Jesus Christ and traveling to churches as we minister through SteveBrownMinistries.com. We are very pleased that our ministry is endorsed and we are sent out of our home church at Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Bad Boy On The Hallelujah Diet

I feel very bad today about the Hallelujah Diet. I have been on the diet for a couple months and I have the first ever case of gout in my left big toe. My family blames the diet and think I'm crazy for staying on the diet after suffering for the last week with the gout. After much research I have left off the things in my diet that are high in purines which turn into uric acid. The uric acid is what crystallizes in my toe joint and causes the gout. I have also added things, like celery juice, cherry juice, lemon juice, cherries and potassium tablets, to my diet to lower the uric acid in my system. These past two days I have seen much improvement in the pain. It's not all gone yet but it is so much better. I just can not see going to the doctor when it is so much better.

Virtual Church

I feel like I went to Virtual Church tonight. I watched and listened to the live video broadcast from Cyrstal Hill Baptist Church tonight. The singing and the message were outstanding. I really enjoyed all of it. The message was just what I needed.

Family Tree Maker

Mary ask me to get Family Tree Maker installed on her computer. She wants to pick up where she left off some 8-9 years ago with our genealogy. This turned out to be a big request. I searched all my CD backups here in Kansas City tonight until I found where I had made a backup of Family Tree Maker back in November of 2000. Now I am placing an order for the newest version of Family Tree Maker so I can restore the data from this backup copy.

Memorial Day Traffic

I got to spend my Memorial Day driving back to Kansas City. I tried to leave early and beat a lot of the Memorial Day traffic. It was okay until about noon. By the time I got to town it was awlful.

Mary and I got to go out and eat with Lee, Scott, Preston, and Drew today after church. Then I juiced enough carrots for Mary and I for the whole week.

Mowing Grass All Day

Oh the thrill of owning your own place. Now I get to mow grass and weed eat all day Saturday instead of geocaching. It is nice to have a place we can call our own.

Juicing Carrots

I guess our most excitment for the evening was juicing enough carrot for the two of us to have carrot juice this weekend.

Late Night Trip To Little Rock

I decided to make my way to Little Rock tonight and work from home tomorrow. I got home in Little Rock a little before midnight. I think the traffic was much better than waiting until tomorrow.

Food Preparation

I spent my evening grocery shopping, watching the live streaming video from First Family Church and Crystal Hill Baptist Church and making salads. It seemed like I was on my feet the entire evening up until bedtime. I made fruit salad for lunch for the next three days and a vegetable salad for tomorrow night because I plan to be on the road to Arkansas during the supper hour.

My gout is still hurting badly and made standing on my feet all evening very painful.

My Gout Came Back

My left Big Toe hurt so bad this morning that I used Mary's handicapped plague to park at the front door of the Sprint Building. I went to Wild Oats at noon and bought a few quarts of Black Cherry Juice and some dried cherries. So now I am drinking Celery Juice with my Carrot Juice twice a day and drinking Black Cherry Juice three times a day to try to get my Uric Acid level down. I am also leaving off all the raw vegetables in my salad that is high in purines. Before I went to bed tonight I drank 8 oz. of Black Cherry Juice with a clove of garlic chopped up in it. I never dreamed that the gout could hurt so bad as to make me do something like this.

New DVD Drive For My Thinkpad

This is the third DVD drive I have bought for my Thinkpad. I am still looking for the driver for it. I have high hopes that this one will really work. I ran out of time looking for the driver and it was too late when I got to Kansas City this evening to work on it.

Belated Mother's Day

My New 1960 GMC Pickup

When I got home to Little Rock this evening Lee and Mary had my dad's old 1960 GMC Pickup waiting for me. They had spent a lot of time and effort getting it running with a new battery and great looking tires. Mary and I took it to town and went shopping in it. It is running great and looks good. The new tires make for a very smooth ride. We forgot to take a picture.

My Fan Quit - Did Not Sleep Well

When I went to bed last night I went to turn on my fan and it would not come on. I knew I was in for lost sleep. Mary and I have used a fan for years to help drown out the night sounds that might wake us up. Sure enough I lost some sleep last night.

Walked Three Miles Inspite of the Gout

I needed exercise very badly so I went for a three mile walk around the Sprint Campus inspite of my big toe hurting. It seemed like it felt better after the walk, but it still hurts.

I Have The Gout In My Left Big Toe

When I got to work today I was complaining about my big toe hurting. Chris said I proablly have the gout. I went to google and determined indeed that I do have the gout. I know I had way, WAY too much salt on two occasions this past weekend with my salad. It was not on purpose but it happened and I ate it any way. I drank more than the normal amount of Mountain Valley Spring Water today hoping that it would flush it out of my system. It is much better this evening but it still hurts.

Juiced 20 Pounds of Carrots

Mary and I managed to wash and juice 20 pounds of carrots before I left for Kansas City. That should be enough juice for the week for both of us.

My left big toe is really giving me fits today. By the time I got to Kansas City I could barely walk. I don't know what's going on. I have not hurt it. It just hurts BAD!

Mother's Day and Mary Is In Omaha

It's been kind of a lonesome day for me. I went to church and did the video broadcast for four services and spent the afternoon alone. I kind of rested up from a busy day yesterday. Mary got home from Omaha, NE about 10:00 p.m in time for bed.

Hit The Floor Running At 7:00 a.m.

When I got up this morning I never sat down. I drank my Barley Max and went to the barn to gas up the mower and add some oil. by 7:30 I decided it was too wet to mow so I went to the store and brought some gasoline for the mower. It was still too wet so I started washing carrots and then juiced 10 pounds of carrots. By now it was 9:00 a.m. and I started mowing. Within twenty minutes I got into something and locked up the mower deck. As I pulled the tractor up on the ramp to check the deck I ran it off the end of the deck and had an awful time getting it back up on the ramp. Crawled under the deck and fixed the problem. Within 10 minutes I got into some barb wire and locked up the mower again. It was back to the ramp being very careful not to run off the end of the ramp. I mowed until about 2:00 p.m. and it started raining. I went to town to buy some groceries. By the time I got the groceries put up I thought it was dry enough to start mowing again. I finally finished mowing about 7:30 p.m. Then I started preparing fruit salad and salad for the next few days. I finally finished by 10:00 p.m. and went to bed. I was tired. Wow! What a busy day.

Mary to Omaha & Steve to Little Rock

What a family we are. Mary drove up to Kansas City Yesterday and we had a date last night. Today she drove to Omaha, NE for our future daughter-in-law's wedding shower and I drove to Little Rock to mow the grass and do my duties at church. I don't know about this interstate marriage thing. We're use to growing up in the little community and marrying a girl from the same community. So this interstate marriage thing is new to us. She's a great girl and we love her.

Kansas City Royals vs. Okland A's

Today our team from work went to the ballgame. We enjoyed a great tailgate party in the parking lot before the game with hot dogs, hamburgers and all the trimmings. I stayed faithful to the Hallelujah Diet. I brought my huge salad with asparagus, and avocado. It was very hot in the parking lot so I taped my big umbrella to my new folding chair from Sam's Wholesale. It was great. The game was not too great. The Royals lost 17-3.

Three Mile Walk In The Rain

Chris and I felt like we needed to walk and it was raining. We took our umbrellas and walked around the Sprint Campus two times in the rain. I don't think we met anybody else walking in the rain. Normally we meet maybe hundreds of people out walking on their noon hour.

Isaac Arthur, Sunyani, Ghana, Africa

I met Issac Arthur last year and we have been exchanging emails most every week ever since. I thought I would share the lastest email from him. It sounds like he is going to be quite a missionary to the people in the nearby village of Atonie. Here now is his latest email:

Hello Mr. Steve
As usual I have just arrived from Atonie and the first thing I have to do is to check my mails. I and and every body in the family is doing well, not forgetting the people in the village . They are also doing well. My great friend in the, Ishmael Says He greet you and he is happy about the new bibles which are on the way coming.

I am very sorry to hear that Lee is hurt. How is He now? Is he now well? Greet him and tell him I wish him speedily recovery. Every evening and the days we meet, we pray for you and the family all the time I have also been telling them about you. They are all eager to see your picture and see the new bibles too. I will print the picture you sent me some time ago and send them along. May be the bibles will be in either next week or the following week. So that we an start using them >

I pray that the lord gives you a job or work from your heart so that you can stop driving. I will tell the church and our group in the village so that we an start praying about that

The lord is doing great things. Things have now change in the village due to this, many of the sinners have become repented and has started worshiping the Lord
Mr. Steve Please I need a little of advice from you .Please now should the group be a Church? And if so what should I do because there many people in it now. I will be happy if you will always send me quotations and advice about how to preach and what I will be doing as a leader in the Village.

I have been looking forward to get a camera but could now succeed. I will be very much happy if you are able to send me one so I will take picture of all the things that are happening here to you. Especially the work of the lord here and the farm.

Bye bye wish to hear from you soon. I will go to my church very soon to tell them what the lord is doing in the village.

Fruit Salad

Yesterday we juiced enough carrots and beets for 5 quarts of carrot/beet juice. Before leaving Little Rock we fixed enough fruit salad for 4 lunches. When I left Little Rock I had my ice chest full of fruit salad, carrot/beet juice and a huge lettuce salad for supper tonight. What a health nut I am! I feel good though and I have lost about 30 pounds in the last few months on the Hallelujah Diet.

We enjoyed a very good day at Crystal Hill Baptist Church. I thought the message tonight was wonderful. I thought the four different broadcasts went off very smooth.

Wedding Videographer

We got up early this morning so we could drive to Little Rock in time for a wedding at 2:00 p.m. We got there with about 30 minutes to spare. One of the wedding party volunteered to run camera #2 for me. I thought we did pretty good for ameteurs. We made 20 copies of the DVD and handed them to her before they were finished with the photographs.

Dr. Lee Roberson, 97, Died

Mary and I spent the evening fixing and eating our huge salad and listening to sermons by Dr. Lee Roberson. He is a very inspiring preacher. We enjoyed listening to him. He is certainly one of the heroes of the faith. His funeral was today in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was 97 years old.

First Family Church

We decided to visit First Family Church tonight. They had Joe Dallas speaking tonight. It was good to know information but I would have rather heard Pastor Jerry Johnston speak. We enjoyed the service. I was surprised at the huge crowd for a rainy night. The place was full.

Haircut Night

I was really beginning to look like a shaggy dog. I talked Mary into giving me a haircut tonight. Then we ate our huge salad and enjoyed a quite night at home.
