Minding Our Own Business
This morning we were traveling down SR172 on the Atlantic Coast of North Carolina when we came upon a barricade with a solider standing by a stop sign with a machine gun. He had his hand on the trigger ready to do business. When I told him we did not have a pass he said we had to turn around. We had no idea that we were trying to come into the back side of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. There was no warning until we came upon the guard with the machine gun. We had to travel a lot of mile to get around Camp Lejeune.

Hi Steve,
I did the same thing on my motorcycle. I drove two car lengths past the guards before I came to a stop. One of the guards yelled, "Hey, stop." I'm glad they didn't shoot me. I later picked up a newer map and it shows 172 closed to the public.
It was a pleasure meeting you on the Ocracoke-Cedar Island Ferry
